Netflix has announced the official return date for its hit spy series and released a first look at the next dangerous mission for Gabriel Basso’s Peter Sutherland. The streamer confirmed that The Night Agent Season 3 will premiere on February 19, 2026. Alongside the date, a new teaser trailer and images give fans a preview of an international thriller involving a dark money network, a rogue agent, and a conspiracy at the highest levels of the U.S. government.
The Story and Setting for Season Three
The plot for the new season sends Agent Peter Sutherland on a globetrotting investigation. The official story description states that Peter is called to track down a young Treasury agent who has fled to Istanbul after killing his boss and taking sensitive government information. This event starts a larger case where Peter must investigate a dark money network while being hunted by its assassins.
His investigation puts him on a “collision course with a relentless journalist”. As they work together, they uncover old secrets and grudges that “threaten to bring the government to its knees”. Series creator Shawn Ryan said the new season will be an “adrenaline-fueled thrill ride” across Istanbul, Mexico City, Washington, D.C., New York, and the Dominican Republic.
“Peter grapples with a dangerous conspiracy at the heart of the White House, a dogged reporter with a hot tip and a murky past, a murder suspect trying to clear his nameโฆ and a new partner who could be his salvation โ or his doom,” said showrunner Shawn Ryan.
What the New Teaser Trailer Shows
The released teaser provides a first glimpse of the action. It opens with Peter Sutherland in a packed football stadium in Istanbul, locating his target, played by Suraj Sharma. Peter calmly tells the man, “Listen, there are people looking for you. Do exactly what I tell you to do, and weโll get out of here safely. Deal?”. The scene quickly escalates into a tense car chase with armed assailants in pursuit.
The fast-cut teaser also shows Peter in various high-risk situations, including kicking down a burning door, using his gun, and pulling an enemy from a moving truck. The footage confirms that Peter has fully stepped into his role as a Night Agent, but the season will also explore the personal cost of his job.
New and Returning Cast Members
Gabriel Basso returns as the lead, Peter Sutherland. The series also welcomes several new actors to the cast. Stephen Moyer, known for True Blood, joins in a role that appears to question Peter’s identity. Other new cast members include Genesis Rodriguez and David Lyons.
They will appear alongside returning series regulars. The teaser and first-look photos confirm the return of Amanda Warren as Peter’s handler, Catherine Weaver, Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington, and Albert Jones as Deputy FBI Director Aiden Mosley. Additional returning cast includes Louis Herthum, Ward Horton, Jennifer Morrison, and Callum Vinson.
