“Just let us show the movie tonight. This is like 30 years of culmination of this and I think that this isโI’d rather just have people see it and enjoy it.”
He added that making the films has been a great experience.
“We’ve had an amazing time doing it and it’s been a lot of fun. We just want you all to enjoy it, enjoy this and know everythingโthe culmination has come to this moment right now.”
Cruise has played Ethan Hunt since the first Mission: Impossible movie in 1996. The series is based on the 1960s TV show of the same name. Over the years, different directors have taken charge, including Brian De Palma and John Woo.
McQuarrie, who has directed the last few films, also spoke about the process.
“It is that journey and our lives are the sum of our choices. These are things that we talk about. McQ has a perspective on the franchise that was very unique in the story that he wanted to tell.”
The new film, The Final Reckoning, was originally planned as Dead Reckoning Part Two. The title was changed, and the release was delayed due to production issues. It will now hit theaters on May 23, 2025.
The movie continues the story from Dead Reckoning Part One. Ethan Hunt and his team must stop a dangerous AI called the Entity. The action includes high-speed chases, daring stunts, and intense fight scenes.
Fans are wondering if this is truly the end for Ethan Hunt. Cruise has hinted in the past that he might keep making Mission: Impossible movies for years. He even said he wants to continue like Harrison Ford did with Indiana Jones.
The Cannes premiere was a major event, with the cast posing for photos and meeting fans. The film is expected to be a big hit, just like the previous installments.
