This week in the Korean entertainment industry has been marked by significant developments. Taeil has been removed from NCT following serious sexual crime allegations, while BTS’ SUGA is facing prosecution for a DUI incident. Additionally, Jo Bo Ah has announced her upcoming marriage. Here are the full details on these major news stories.

Taeil Removed from NCT Due to Sexual Crime Allegations

On August 28, SM Entertainment officially announced the removal of Taeil from NCT and its sub-unit NCT 127. This decision followed allegations of sexual crimes against the singer. The agency’s statement highlighted that, despite ongoing investigations, the gravity of the accusations necessitated immediate action.

“Although we are in the process of gathering all the information regarding the situation, the decision has been made due to its seriousness.”

Shortly after the announcement, the Bangbae Police Station confirmed the start of an investigation. They noted that the victims involved are neither minors nor same-sex individuals. In reaction to the news:

  • Taeil’s former bandmates unfollowed him on Instagram and removed photos with him.
  • Fans expressed their disappointment by burning his albums and photos.
  • Various promotional materials featuring Taeil were taken down.

Taeil experienced a loss of over 1 million Instagram followers within a single day.

BTS’ SUGA’s DUI Case Forwarded to Prosecution

On August 30, Yongsan Police Station forwarded SUGA’s DUI case to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office. This decision followed an incident involving drunk-driving on an electric scooter. SUGA is now facing charges under the Road Traffic Act. The case was handed over without detention, 17 days after the incident became public.

Min Hee Jin Dismissed as ADOR’s CEO

HYBE announced on August 27 that Min Hee Jin was dismissed from her role as CEO of ADOR. She will continue in her position as NewJeans’ in-house director. Min Hee Jin expressed surprise at the decision, claiming it was made without her consent.

“The decision was taken unilaterally and is a grave violation of the shareholders’ agreement.”

HYBE clarified that Min Hee Jin attended the board meeting virtually and had suggested the date of the announcement. Kim Joo Young has been appointed as the new CEO of ADOR.

BTS Announces Second Collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion

On August 30, BIGHIT MUSIC announced a new collaboration between BTS and Megan Thee Stallion. While the details were teased with emojis, fans speculate that the project might feature a solo track by RM. This follows their previous collaboration on the remix of Butter.

Jo Bo Ah to Tie the Knot in October

Jo Bo Ah will marry her longtime boyfriend in October, according to her agency, XYZ Studio. The wedding will be a private affair, with her fiancé being a non-celebrity. Speculation about a pre-marital pregnancy has been firmly denied by her agency, which also stated that Jo Bo Ah plans to continue her acting career and will be busy filming throughout the next year.

Park Bo Gum Sustains Injury on Good Boy Set

On August 28, it was reported that Park Bo Gum sustained a minor leg injury while filming an action scene for his upcoming drama Good Boy in Busan. THE BLACK LABEL, his agency, confirmed that he was taken to a hospital in Seoul for treatment. Filming was paused for the day, and the remaining schedule was canceled.
