Pierce, who played Markle’s TV father on the legal drama Suits, recently shared some positive insights into the couple’s relationship. During the 2024 Tony Awards in New York City, Pierce revealed he had a chance to reunite with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2023.
“When [Meghan Markle] came into town, she got an award last year, had a chance to say hello and wish she and Prince Harry well and wish the children well,” Pierce told People magazine. He emphasized, “They look very much in love and were very happy, so that’s the most important thing.”
This is a welcome update for fans of the couple, considering recent media speculation about a strained relationship between Prince Harry and his family back in the UK.
Suits Memories and a Look to the Future
Pierce also took a moment to reminisce about the good old days working with Markle on Suits. The actors shared the screen until 2019, when Markle left the show to pursue her royal life. Pierce, 60, fondly remembers their time together, “We have fond memories of working together,” he said, adding that he keeps in touch with his former TV daughter.
With the recent news of Suits: LA kicking off production, fans can’t help but wonder if the original cast might make an appearance. The spin-off stars Stephen Amell, but there’s a buzz about the potential return of Patrick J. Adams, who played Markle’s on-screen love interest, Mike Ross.

Adams himself has expressed his enthusiasm for the spin-off and is open to revisiting the Suits world. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the Golden Globes earlier this year, he hinted at a potential return for Rachel and Mike, suggesting they might come to LA “to fix some stuff.”
Since stepping down from their royal roles, Markle’s return to acting seems like a more realistic possibility. However, the Duchess has remained somewhat coy on the subject. During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, she expressed no strong desire to return to Hollywood but did leave the door open with a “never say never” attitude. Markle officially left Suits after filming the 100th episode in 2018.
