Apple TV has pulled back the curtain on its next big series. The streaming service revealed the first look at Widow’s Bay, a new 10-episode horror comedy starring Matthew Rhys. The series is set to start streaming globally on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
The show mixes scary moments with character-based humor. It comes from a creative team with a strong track record, led by Katie Dippold, the writer behind the 2016 Ghostbusters film.
What Widow’s Bay Is About
The story takes place in a small island town located 40 miles off the coast of New England. Matthew Rhys plays Mayor Tom Loftis, a man described as “soft and cowardly” who is desperately trying to save his struggling community. The town has no reliable Wi-Fi, poor cell service, and is filled with residents who firmly believe their home is cursed.
Loftis wants to turn the island into a tourist spot to build a better future for his teenage son. Against the odds, he succeeds in attracting visitors. The problem is the locals were right all along. The old, terrifying stories they told turn out to be true, and strange events begin happening again after decades of quiet.
The Stars and Creators Behind the Scenes
Matthew Rhys is not only the star but also an executive producer on the series. He leads an ensemble cast that includes:
