A new trailer for Will Trent Season 4 has been released, and it shows the entire cast breaking into a joyful dance party at the Atlanta Police Department headquarters. The promo trades the show’s usual tense crime scenes for a burst of rhythm and color, featuring agents and their pet chihuahua grooving to “Time Has Come Today” by The Chambers Brothers. This fun preview builds excitement for the season’s premiere on Tuesday, January 6, on ABC.
The New Season Four Teaser
The newly released trailer opens not on a crime, but on a celebration. The entire main cast, including Ramรณn Rodrรญguez (Will Trent), Iantha Richardson (Faith), Jake McLaughlin (Ormewood), Erika Christensen (Angie), and Sonja Sohn (Amanda), is seen dancing together. They are joined by Kevin Daniels, now a series regular as Franklin, recurring actor Cora Lu Tran (Nico), and the show’s chihuahua, Bluebell.
The clip highlights a shift in tone for the serious special agent. Ramรณn Rodrรญguez shared that it was refreshing to see his character let loose. He said:
โWill can be pretty tense and set in his ways, maybe even a little neurotic. So itโs refreshing to see him finally let go and have some fun. Itโs a bold, fresh way to kick off season 4.โ
Rodrรญguez also mentioned that the cast had an “absolute blast” filming the sequence, a sentiment that is clear from the playful energy on screen.
Connecting To An Emmy-Nominated Moment
This isn’t the first time Will Trent has incorporated dance. The surprise party follows a memorable scene from Season 3 that earned the show an Emmy nomination for choreography. In an episode titled “One of Us Now,” Will hallucinated after drinking a cult’s “soul water,” leading to a disco fantasy set to Donna Summer’s “Last Dance.”
Choreographers Danielle Sten-Guillermo and Lance Guillermo had less than four days to prepare and under one day to film that complex sequence. They worked closely with the actors, using creative methods like sending video clips of the choreography to Ramรณn Rodrรญguez over Zoom. The success of that scene demonstrated the show’s unique willingness to blend its crime drama with creative, stylistic flourishes. The new Season 4 trailer continues this inventive tradition, using dance to signal a fresh, confident start for the upcoming season.

Unresolved Cliffhangers from the Season 3 Finale
While the new trailer is lighthearted, the show is returning to some serious unresolved drama. The Season 3 finale left two major characters in life-threatening situations. Amanda was shot in the chest while defending her precinct from a terrorist attack. Although she survived surgery, her condition was still described as “critical” as the season ended.
At the same time, Michael Ormewood collapsed from a seizure after discovering he had a brain tumor. The finale showed him on his kitchen floor as Faith called for help. In a separate storyline, Angie learned she did not have a miscarriage, adding a new layer of complexity to her relationships with Will and the baby’s father, Seth.
Where and When to Watch
Will Trent Season 4 will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, January 6, at 8/7c. Viewers can also stream new episodes the day after they air on Hulu. The new season will pick up directly from the cliffhangers of the Season 3 finale, continuing the stories of the GBI team.
