The beloved CBS comedy is giving fans double the holiday fun with special episodes airing this fall and winter. Ghosts is coming back with two big holiday events before its already-confirmed sixth season arrives. The show just aired a Halloween special on October 30, 2025, and will follow up with a two-part Christmas special on December 18, 2025. These bonus episodes give viewers plenty of ghostly fun while waiting for Season 6.
Halloween Special Brings a Mummy to Woodstone
The Ghosts Halloween episode titled “Halloween 5: The Mummy” aired on October 30, 2025 at 8:31 PM ET/PT on CBS. The episode saw Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) accidentally release a mummy ghost during their Halloween celebration. This new spirit caused all kinds of problems at the Woodstone B&B.
The episode was written by Josh Malmuth and directed by Pete Chatmon. Fans who missed it can still watch on Paramount+. The streaming service offers next-day access for Essential plan subscribers and live streaming for Premium plan members.
Christmas Two-Part Special Arrives in December
The Ghosts Christmas celebration is bigger this year. CBS will air a two-part episode called “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol” on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The special runs from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM ET/PT on CBS.
Part one and part two will play back-to-back. The story follows Sam as she gets ready for a big Christmas Eve TV interview with Walter Storm, played by guest star Larry Wilmore. But things go wrong in typical Ghosts fashion. Sam ends up seeing what life would be like if she never had the ability to see ghosts.
Caroline Aaron returns as Carol in the Christmas episodes. The special also shows Trevor (Asher Grodman) and Patience bonding over not liking Christmas celebrations.
Season 6 Already Confirmed
CBS renewed Ghosts for both a fifth and sixth season in February 2025. Season 5 started airing on October 16, 2025. The show remains one of CBS’s top comedies.
The cast will all return for Season 6. This includes Rose McIver as Sam, Utkarsh Ambudkar as Jay, Brandon Scott Jones as Isaac, Danielle Pinnock as Alberta, Asher Grodman as Trevor, Rebecca Wisocky as Hetty, Richie Moriarty as Pete, Román Zaragoza as Sasappis, Sheila Carrasco as Flower, and Devan Chandler Long as Thorfinn.
Cast Celebrates the Show’s Success
The Ghosts cast shared their excitement about the double season renewal. Rose McIver posted on Instagram about feeling “lucky” to be part of the show. Utkarsh Ambudkar kept his message short and simple, just sharing the renewal news with a “Yes!”.
Danielle Pinnock (Alberta) got emotional on X (formerly Twitter). She wrote about how much the show means to her and the cast.
“I am bawling so hard right now. Thank you @CBS and everyone who watches. We love making this show for you.” – Danielle Pinnock
Asher Grodman (Trevor) posted about getting to work with his friends for two more years. The cast’s real-life friendship shows in their on-screen chemistry.

What to Expect From Season 6
While CBS hasn’t shared specific plot details for Season 6, the show will keep its usual format. Sam and Jay will continue running the Woodstone B&B while dealing with their ghost residents. The sixth season will likely air in late 2026, following the show’s pattern of fall premieres.
Season 5 is still airing new episodes. After the Christmas special on December 18, the season will continue into early 2026. Fans can expect more flashbacks showing how the ghosts died. The show also keeps teasing whether Jay will ever see the ghosts. He is the only main character who cannot see them.
