Sun Pictures released the official trailer for Jailer 2 on Monday, October 5, 2026, giving fans their first detailed look at the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The two-minute trailer brings back Rajinikanth as the retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, who is now living under the radar as a driver while investigating a much larger criminal network. The film is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 15, 2026, just ten days after the trailer’s release.

The trailer introduces a bigger cast, including Vidya Balan in her Tamil cinema debut, SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Mithun Chakraborty as new threats. Returning faces include Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff. Fans on social media are already buzzing about a possible Hrithik Roshan cameo, though the makers have not confirmed it.

What the Jailer 2 Trailer Shows

The trailer opens with Suraj Venjaramoodu’s character, Dileep, questioning his men about the whereabouts of Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The retired jailer has been laying low, working as a driver in a remote village, far from the man who dismantled an idol smuggling group in the first film.

Muthuvel is not hiding out of fear. The trailer reveals he is investigating the larger syndicate behind the smuggling group, which is called Kalpaks. His search brings him face to face with the people in the shadows who control the network.

The sequel expands the conflict far beyond the first film’s cat-and-mouse game. A new adversary group called “Alps” is introduced, hinting at a wider web of enemies operating behind the scenes. The trailer features several action sequences, including a tense sniper standoff where Muthuvel calmly offers a hostage a choice between tea or coffee while delivering a warning.

The scale is visibly larger. The trailer shows Muthuvel planning to bring his enemies together in one place before launching an explosive attack. Anirudh Ravichander’s background score lifts the mass moments, and the trailer ends with Yogi Babu’s character pointing out how Tiger is killing people but cleaning a car like nothing happened.

Vidya Balan makes her Tamil cinema debut as Kantha. She appears in a fierce new avatar with a short hairstyle and a darker look, sharing a tense exchange with Rajinikanth. Details about her character’s connection to Tiger have been kept under wraps.

SJ Suryah features prominently in what appears to be a pivotal antagonist role, bringing his trademark unpredictability to a character whose motives are deliberately hidden. Suraj Venjaramoodu plays Dileep, a man searching for Tiger. Mithun Chakraborty has been confirmed as part of the cast through the trailer.
