The 26-year-old MLB player shared the happy news on social media, revealing that the baby arrived earlier than expected.
Weathers wrote on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) about his excitement and gratitude. The left-handed pitcher shared a photo showing Thayer resting on his shoulder while holding their newborn son. He also posted a picture of a baseball marked with baby Paul’s tiny footprint.

Wedding Date and How Ryan Weathers Met Thayer Hall
Ryan Weathers married Thayer Hall on November 6, 2022. The wedding took place at Howe Farms Wedding and Event Venue in Georgetown, Tennessee. Family and friends gathered to celebrate the couple’s special day.
The couple’s story goes back further than 2020. As their wedding website on The Knot shared, Ryan and Thayer first learned about each other in 2018. They were both named National Gatorade Players of the Year – Thayer for volleyball and Ryan for baseball. Gatorade posted the list of winners, and they noticed each other’s names. They followed each other on social media after that.
Thayer played volleyball at the University of Florida. Ryan, the son of former MLB pitcher David Weathers, was already making his way in professional baseball after being drafted seventh overall by the San Diego Padres in 2018.
They officially met in late December 2020. As the couple explained, Ryan’s sisters, Karly and Ally, tried to play matchmaker while Ryan was in Arizona. They encouraged him to reach out to Thayer. The two reconnected and ended up spending New Year’s Eve together in Atlanta. They started dating from that point.

The New York Yankees officially placed Ryan Weathers on the paternity list on April 22, 2026. The team recalled right-handed reliever Jake Bird from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill the roster spot.
Weathers was not scheduled to pitch during the Yankees’ series against the Boston Red Sox. His next start is expected to come on Saturday, April 26, 2026, against the Houston Astros. If he uses all three days of paternity leave, he should return in time for that game.
Before leaving for paternity leave, Weathers had been performing well for the Yankees. He owns a 3.18 ERA with 36 strikeouts and only eight walks in 28.1 innings across five starts.
