Aspyn Ovard is not a Mormon. Even though she grew up in Utah surrounded by the Latter-day Saint community and has a Mormon father, she does not identify as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ovard has described herself as “Mormon-adjacent.” She sometimes went to church services as a child and was baptized, but she has made it clear that she never considered herself a follower of the faith.

“I know some people realize later, but especially growing up in Utah, there’s such a big Mormon community…. and so many people just are not free to be themselves. I just feel like I have a special place in my heart for that.. because of growing up there.”
During an appearance on the Girlscamp podcast in March 2025, Ovard shared more details. Her father grew up in the church, but her mother did not. Her mother only got baptized into the LDS Church when she married Ovard’s father. Ovard attended church occasionally to make friends rather than to build a strong religious connection.

Even though Aspyn Ovard is not a Mormon, she is already connected to the series. She made a guest appearance in Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Viewers saw her at Jessi Ngatikaura’s Halloween party, where she was seen talking to main cast members like Taylor Frankie Paul and Mayci Neeley.
Ovard is friends with many of the original cast members. Because she is a content creator from Utah, she runs in the same social circles as the MomTok group. Back in October 2024, she posted a TikTok hinting at joining the show, telling the official series account to “Call me anytime.”
