Prime Video has decided to stop making the college superhero show Gen V after its second season. The show, which is a spin-off from the famous series The Boys, will not return for a third season. This news comes as the main show, The Boys, is airing its fifth and final season. The team behind the Vought Cinematic Universe confirmed that the doors are closing at Godolkin University for good.
Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, who are the main producers for the Vought Cinematic Universe, shared the official statement about the cancellation. The news spread quickly, and fans of the dark superhero world took to social media to share their feelings. Many people were hoping to see more stories from the young superheroes, but the streaming service decided to end the project.
“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”
Fans Voice Their Frustration Online After Cancellation News
After the announcement, many viewers went online to talk about their disappointment. While the first season of Gen V was a big hit with critics, the ratings for the second season were not strong enough to keep the show going. The universe is not shrinking, but the focus is shifting away from the college setting.
