The latest episode of The Boys Season 5 delivered one of the most shocking celebrity cameos in the show’s history when executive producer Seth Rogen appeared on screen just to get brutally killed. Episode 5, titled “One-Shots,” released on April 29, 2026, on Prime Video, and features Rogen playing a fictional version of himself. The scene has become a major talking point among viewers, with many calling it the wildest moment of the season so far.

Seth Rogen Plays Himself in a Card Game That Turns Deadly
The Seth Rogen cameo happens inside Mister Marathon’s mansion in Los Angeles. Rogen sits at a poker table with Kumail Nanjiani, Will Forte, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Craig Robinson, all playing exaggerated versions of themselves. The group chats casually about life under Homelander’s rule while waiting for Soldier Boy and Homelander to finish their business with Mister Marathon, played by Jared Padalecki.
When Homelander walks into the room, Rogen introduces himself and mentions they met before at the premiere of Black Noir’s movie “Silent Vengeance 3: Vengeance Reloaded.” He also tells Homelander he plans to testify before Congress that Post Malone is a suspected Starlighter. The moment feels awkward and funny, with Homelander clearly not caring about any of the celebrities in the room.
Soldier Boy Uses Mister Marathon’s Speed to Kill Everyone
The chaos begins after Misha Collins’ character Malchemical uses his gas powers to knock Homelander unconscious. Mister Marathon and Malchemical try to get Soldier Boy to turn against his son, but Soldier Boy refuses. What happens next turns into a bloody game.
Soldier Boy starts calling Mister Marathon to come to him at super speed. Each time Mister Marathon runs across the room, Soldier Boy pushes one of the celebrities into his path. The speedster crashes into them at full force, causing instant death. The kills happen one after another in a matter of seconds.

Rogen’s Death Scene Includes a Funny Last Joke
Seth Rogen tries to escape when he realizes what is happening, but Soldier Boy grabs him and throws him directly into Mister Marathon’s path. The impact cuts Rogen’s character in half at the torso, leaving his upper body and insides scattered on the floor.
As Rogen lies there dying, Mister Marathon tells him, “I’ll remember you every time I watch An American Pickle,” referencing Rogen’s 2020 HBO Max movie. Rogen looks confused and scared, asking what happened to him. Mister Marathon then snaps his neck to end his suffering. The entire cameo lasts about ten minutes before Rogen meets his bloody ending.
Fans React to the Shocking Celebrity Death Scene
Social media exploded after the episode aired, with viewers sharing their shock and amusement at seeing Seth Rogen get killed in such a graphic way. Many posted jokes about the producer approving his own violent death scene.
One fan wrote on X, calling the moment the best celebrity cameo the show has ever done. Others pointed out that Rogen has appeared in previous seasons as himself, making his death feel like a payoff for longtime viewers. The Seth Rogen cameo also brought back memories of his 2013 movie “This Is the End,” where he and other celebrities played fictional versions of themselves during the apocalypse.

Rogen Is Also an Executive Producer on The Boys
Beyond his on-screen appearance, Seth Rogen has been an executive producer on The Boys since the show started in 2019. He works with his longtime partner Evan Goldberg, and together they have produced all forty episodes of the series along with the spinoffs Gen V and Diabolical.
Goldberg reportedly came up with the idea to get as many celebrity friends as possible in one room and kill them in the most violent way imaginable. Showrunner Eric Kripke told Entertainment Weekly that when they planned the final season, they knew they wanted to do a celebrity bloodbath. The Supernatural reunion with Padalecki, Ackles, and Collins gave them the perfect setup.
Other Celebrities Who Died in The Boys Episode 5
The episode did not stop with just Seth Rogen. Kumail Nanjiani, who previously appeared in the “Herogasm” episode and season 1 as a Vought scientist, also got killed. Will Forte met his end when Mister Marathon ran through him. Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Craig Robinson also died in the same bloody sequence. Misha Collins’ character Malchemical was killed earlier when Soldier Boy snapped his neck. Only Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Antony Starr’s Homelander walked out of the mansion alive.
