The Team Behind ‘Dad’s House’

Michael Cusack leads the project as a showrunner and executive producer. Cusack is known for his unique animation style. He created YOLO and co-created Smiling Friends. The show ended after its third season in early 2026. Cusack said he and co-creator Zach Hadel felt “burned out” but also “accomplished” after finishing the series.

Cusack is not working alone on this Netflix show. He is teaming up with Dario Russo and David Ashby. These two worked on the cult classic Danger 5 and Italian Spiderman. Their work mixes surreal humor with retro action vibes.

The production studios behind the series are Princess Pictures and Bento Box Entertainment. Bento Box is famous for making Bob’s Burgers. Princess Pictures worked with Cusack before on Koala Man and YOLO.

They are joined by Felicity Ward. Ward is a well-known Australian comedian and actress. She starred in the Australian version of The Office. She also appeared in Wakefield and The Inbetweeners 2. Her addition brings live-action comedy experience to the animated voice booth.

What Is The Show Dad’S House About?

The plot focuses on family ties in a funny way.

“In small-town suburban Australia, thirteen year old child of divorce, Sean, spends every second weekend with his laidback, but well meaning dad, Ian. Cramming quality dad-time into a single weekend is already a tall order — but Ian has a remarkable gift for making it so much harder than it needs to be.”

The central relationship is between Sean, a 13-year-old dealing with his parents’ split, and his father Ian. Ian means well but is not very good at planning things. The show will explore their messy weekends together. Every visit is supposed to be quality time. But Ian always finds a way to make things awkward or difficult.

The show is set in suburban Australia. This setting will likely bring a specific cultural humor and local flavor to the global streaming platform.
