The romantic comedy anime Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms just dropped the first teaser trailer and new visual for its second season. Fans have been waiting for this update since the show’s first season ended in March 2025.
The teaser video shows Mona Kawai dealing with her growing feelings for the one boy who still ignores her. The new visual also gives a fresh look at the returning characters.
What the New Teaser Trailer Shows
The teaser PV focuses on Mona now fully aware that she likes Medaka. The clip shows her trying harder than ever to win him over, but nothing seems to work. Every attempt she makes ends in failure or awkward moments.
The trailer keeps the same fun and silly tone from season one. Mona uses all her usual tricks, but Medaka still tries to push her away. The big difference now is that Mona is not just trying to win a challenge anymore. She actually wants Medaka to notice her for real.
Yuu Serizawa, the voice actor for Mona, shared that the story from her character’s point of view now shows her first real love. She also promised that the other female characters will get more screen time in season two.
Ryouta Iwasaki, who voices Medaka, said the production team is excited to start working on the new episodes. He hinted that the relationship between Medaka, Mona, and Asahi will get even more complicated.
Returning Cast and New Staff Members
Most of the main team from season one is coming back for season two. Yoshiaki Okumura returns as director at Studio SynergySP. Mayumi Watanabe is again handling character design. Akiyuki Tateyama is back to compose the music.
However, there is one big change in the writing team. Yoriko Tomita takes over as the new series composition writer and scriptwriter. She replaces Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who worked on season one. Tomita is known for her work on popular shows like My Dress-Up Darling and The Elusive Samurai.
Other new staff members include:
- Hiroki Matsumoto as the new art director
- Shinichirou Nagano as the new director of photography
- Nozomi Nakatani joins Noriyoshi Konuma as co-sound director
The main voice cast is also returning. Ryouta Iwasaki is back as Medaka Kuroiwa. Yuu Serizawa returns as Mona Kawai. The supporting cast including Sora Amamiya, Kana Hanazawa, Hinaki Yano, and Kaori Maeda will also reprise their roles.
The Story So Far
Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms is based on the manga by Ran Kuze. The story started as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in December 2020. After getting positive feedback, it became a full series in May 2021.
The manga is still ongoing. The 24th volume came out in Japan on May 15, 2026. Kodansha USA publishes the English version and will release the 21st volume digitally on May 19, 2026.
The anime’s first season aired from January 6 to March 24, 2025, with 12 episodes. The show follows Mona Kawai, the most popular girl at school. She is used to getting attention from everyone. But then Medaka Kuroiwa transfers to her school.
Medaka never looks at her and always seems annoyed. Mona takes this as a personal challenge. She tries everything to make him fall for her. But the harder she tries, the more she starts falling for him instead.
There is also a reason why Medaka stays away from girls. He was raised at a temple and trained to become a monk. He was told to never get close to women. So he fights his feelings while Mona keeps getting closer to him.
