NCIS actress Katrina Law has shared her thoughts on the growing role of artificial intelligence in Hollywood, and her answer is more practical than panicked. The star, who plays Special Agent Jessica Knight on the long-running CBS drama, spoke about the topic during a recent interview with CBS News while promoting NCIS Season 24.

Law was asked whether she would encourage her daughter to pursue acting, given how quickly AI is being integrated into film and television production. Her response focused on adaptation rather than fear, and it has caught attention for being a measured take in a debate that often swings between hype and dread.

What Katrina Law Said About AI and Acting

The conversation started with a personal story. Law revealed that her daughter had been visiting the NCIS set for years and one day pitched herself for a role, saying she wanted to help her mother solve a crime and maybe speak Mandarin. The writers took the idea seriously, and about two months before the episode, they asked Law if her daughter was still interested. A role was written for her, and she ended up guest-starring alongside her mother in an episode of NCIS Season 24.

That experience led to the AI question. Law did not dismiss the technology, but she also did not treat it as the end of human creativity.

“There’s always going to be some iteration of the fine arts…”

She continued:

“… who knows what that means in 20 years from now, but whatever it is, I feel like we just need to keep up with it and kind of try to figure it out before it takes over.”

The quote has been read as a call for the industry to stay engaged with AI rather than ignore it. Law is not against the use of AI in Hollywood, but she hopes the business can use it without letting it consume the fine arts as they are known today.

NCIS Season 24 Is Already on Air

The timing of Law’s comments matters because NCIS Season 24 is currently airing. The season premiered on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, on CBS. New episodes air on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET, and released episodes are available to stream on Paramount+.

Season 24 has already brought major changes to the show. Leon Vance, the longtime NCIS Director played by Rocky Carroll, was killed off early in the season, and Anthony DiNozzo, played by Michael Weatherly, has stepped into the director role. Law’s character, Jessica Knight, has been given more responsibility in this new setup. She is now tasked with looking after DiNozzo on behalf of Ziva David, and she is also keeping an eye on Nick Torres.

Law described the shift in a separate part of the interview:

“It’s interesting because Jessica Knight has always been a character that has kind of been the heart of the boys club and she’s kind of kept the boys together and she’s had a little bit of a mother hen role, but this year she really takes that to heart…”

She added that the new responsibilities make things “really kind of insane” for her character this year.

A Daughter on Set and a Role Written for Her

The story of Law’s daughter appearing on NCIS has become a talking point from the press tour. According to Law, her daughter had been around the set for years and made a direct pitch for a part. The writers were surprised but followed through, and the young actress got to share scenes with her mother. Law called it the most magical and wonderful experience and said she was extremely proud of her daughter.

The episode featuring Law’s daughter is set to air in November 2026, according to the interview. That detail gives viewers a specific window for when to expect the guest appearance.

Why the AI Conversation Matters for NCIS

The AI question is not just a general Hollywood topic for NCIS. The show itself has already worked AI into its storytelling. In a December 2025 episode, an AI chatbot named DAWN, voiced by Carin Gilfry, was assigned to work cases with the team, including Knight. The series has been willing to engage with the technology on screen, which makes Law’s off-screen comments feel connected to the show’s own material.

Law’s position is also notable because she has spoken about AI in a different context before. In late 2025 and early 2026, she was in the news over a personal legal matter involving allegations that her estranged husband used AI to impersonate her voice and likeness. That background makes her perspective on AI in the industry more than theoretical, though the CBS News interview focused on the creative side of the debate.

What to Expect from the Rest of Season 24

NCIS Season 24 is still in its early run, and the show is balancing new leadership with familiar faces. Michael Weatherly is back as Tony DiNozzo, and the season is exploring how the team adjusts to a different kind of director. Law’s Jessica Knight sits at the center of that adjustment, acting as a bridge between the new boss and the rest of the team.

For viewers who want to follow the season, new episodes arrive on CBS on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET. Streaming is available on Paramount+ for released episodes. The episode with Law’s daughter is scheduled for November 2026.
