The 10th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards brought together fans from across the globe to celebrate the best in Japanese animation. The ceremony took place on May 23, 2026, at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo, Japan.
This year marked a major milestone with 73 million fan votes cast worldwide, breaking the previous record of 51 million votes from 2025. The top five most engaged countries were Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico, and the United States.
My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON took home the night’s biggest prize, Anime of the Year. Music star The Weeknd presented the award to the winning team.
My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON Dominates Top Categories
The Bones studio production won four awards total during the ceremony. Besides the top honor, the series also grabbed Best Ending Sequence for “I” by BUMP OF CHICKEN and Best Supporting Character for Katsuki Bakugo.
Bakugo’s win came from his powerful comeback moment in the final season. After an apparent death scene, his return to save All Might won over many viewers who previously criticized the character.

The show also earned a Best French Voice Artist Performance win for Bastien Bourlé, who voices Izuku Midoriya.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Named Film of the Year
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle claimed Film of the Year honors. The movie also took home Best Score for composers Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina.
The film dominated the voice acting categories as well. Lucien Dodge won Best English Voice Artist for his role as Akaza. The same character also brought wins for voice actors in Brazilian Portuguese, Castilian Spanish, German, and Latin Spanish categories.
In total, Demon Slayer collected seven awards, making it one of the most decorated winners of the evening.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Shines in Drama and Acting Categories
The Apothecary Diaries season 2 proved to be a fan favorite across multiple categories. The series won Best Drama and Best Director for Akinori Fudesaka and Norihiro Naganuma.
Maomao, the sharp-witted main character, earned Best Main Character honors. Voice actress Aoi Yuki won Best Japanese Voice Artist for her performance as Maomao.
Indian fans celebrated a special win when Abhishek Sharma took home Best Hindi Voice Artist for his work as Jinshi in the same series.
Solo Leveling and Gachiakuta Take Multiple Wins
Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- won two major technical awards. The series grabbed Best Action and Best Animation, continuing its streak from previous award seasons.
Gachiakuta made a strong debut as Best New Series. The show also won Best Background Art and Best Character Design, proving its visual quality stood out among 2025 releases.
DAN DA DAN and SPY x FAMILY Bring Comedy and Slice of Life Wins
DAN DA DAN Season 2 won Best Comedy for keeping audiences laughing with its bizarre and absurd storytelling. The show also took Best Opening Sequence for “On The Way” by AiNA THE END.
SPY x FAMILY Season 3 won Best Slice of Life. Young Anya Forger once again claimed the “Must Protect At All Cost” Character award, a category she has dominated in previous years.
Lazarus, the original anime from the creator of Cowboy Bebop, won Best Original Anime.
ONE PIECE continued its legendary run by winning Best Continuing Series, proving the long-running show still commands massive fan support.
Isekai and Romance Categories Find Their Winners
Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 3 won Best Isekai Anime, marking the franchise’s 10th anniversary since its first season aired in 2016.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity took home Best Romance.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc earned Best Anime Song for “IRIS OUT” by Kenshi Yonezu.

The ceremony also honored director Tatsuya Nagamine with the Global Impact Award for his work on Ojamajo Doremi, PreCure, Dragon Ball Super, and ONE PIECE. Animator Masayuki Sato accepted the award on his behalf.
