A Boy Who Ate Garbage and Found a Prince
The flashback in Chapter 1184 shows Brook at 11 years old. He was not a warrior or a musician yet. He was a street child living in a junkyard, eating frogs and bugs just to survive. The young boy would stand outside music schools, watching other children learn, but he was always chased away because of his dirty appearance.
Even with nothing, Brook built his own violin from trash. He played music in the dump, finding joy where there should have been none. This caught the attention of Prince Reuven, the future king of Esperia. The prince, tired of the empty life of royalty, secretly visited the junkyard to spend time with the boy who seemed truly happy.
In a touching scene, Brook shared his cooked frog meal with the stranger, not knowing he was a prince. Reuven ate the terrible food and cried, and Brook thought it was because the meal was so good. That small act of kindness started a bond that would change the kingdom forever.
The Rescue That Came at a Terrible Price
The trouble began when Brook stole some curry powder from a Marine ship. Days later, Marines captured the boy and tortured him, believing he was involved in drug trafficking. Reuven found out and rushed to save his young friend, bringing Candelle, the commander of the royal guard, with him.
The Marines warned Reuven that they had the World Government’s backing. They told him to walk away. But the prince did not care about the consequences. He attacked the Marines, rescued Brook, and brought the boy to the palace. Reuven then ordered that Brook be given a proper education and music lessons.

Brook admitted he never wanted to see her again because she killed her own father. Princess Shuri murdered King Reuven, the man who saved Brook’s life.
The current chapters show Gunko struggling against Imu’s mind control. Her eyes clear for a moment, and she tries to speak to Brook, but Imu forces her back under control. This suggests that Princess Shuri may not have acted willingly. The World Government may have turned her into a weapon against her own family.
How One Rescue Doomed an Entire Kingdom
The cruel twist is that Reuven’s kindness may have caused Esperia’s destruction. The World Government does not forgive those who defy them. Fans have seen this before with the erasure of Lulusia Kingdom. Esperia likely suffered the same fate.
Sources suggest that Queen Candelle, Reuven’s wife and the former commander who helped rescue Brook, later made a mysterious trip to meet with the Gorosei, the World Government’s highest leaders. Some believe she may have been forced into a deal or even acted as a spy. The design of her sword and her lack of aging over decades have made fans suspicious about her true loyalties.
Reuven saved a poor boy who only wanted to play music. That one act of compassion led the World Government to destroy his family, corrupt his daughter, and erase his entire kingdom from history.
