Tom Holland’s newest Spider-Man film has shattered records at the Indian box office. Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed the ₹100 crore mark in just two days of its release, making it one of the fastest Hollywood films to achieve this milestone in India.
The film, which released in India on July 30, 2026, a day before its US premiere, earned a massive ₹60.60 crore net on its opening day. It followed up with ₹49.35 crore net on its second day, taking the total India net collection to ₹109.95 crore. The India gross collection after two days stands at ₹131.46 crore.
This two-day haul surpasses the domestic starts of several major Indian films, including Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which managed ₹60 crore in its first two days, and Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki, which earned less than ₹50 crore in the same period.
Record-breaking opening for a Hollywood film in India
Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened with the biggest Day 1 gross for a Hollywood film in India, surpassing the previous benchmark set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019. The film recorded 72.3 per cent occupancy across 17,250 shows on its opening day.
On its second day, the film maintained strong momentum with 64.8 per cent occupancy across 16,902 shows. The English version led the business, contributing ₹60 crore to the India haul, followed by the Hindi dub at ₹39 crore.
Among the dubbed versions, Tamil collected ₹2.25 crore from 1,166 shows with 49 per cent occupancy, while Telugu brought in ₹2 crore from 957 shows with 42 per cent occupancy.
Global box office performance
Worldwide, the superhero film has amassed ₹2,600 crore in gross collections, including ₹1,925 crore from overseas markets.
In North America, the film set a record even before its release, registering the highest box-office total from paid previews in history with $72 million, breaking Avengers: Endgame’s record.
The film is expected to rake in around $250-260 million in its opening weekend in North America, marking the second biggest opening for a Hollywood film ever. Industry estimates suggest the film could cross the half-billion-dollar mark worldwide, with some ambitious projections putting its global debut at $800 million.
What the film is about
Part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars Tom Holland as Spider-Man, aka Peter Parker, and brings back Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned.
The film sees Peter Parker living entirely on his own as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him. After Doctor Strange’s spell erased him from everyone’s memory at the end of No Way Home, Peter is now devoted entirely to protecting his city. Amid the mounting pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him, Spider-Man comes across new dangers with the entrance of villains.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film also stars Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal in pivotal roles.
Early audience reactions
Initial reactions from Indian audiences have been largely positive. Social media has been flooded with first reactions, with many fans hailing it as one of the best live-action Spider-Man films yet.
One viewer wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “THAT WAS THE BEST LIVE-ACTION SPIDER-MAN MOVIE EVER MADE”. Another fan praised the dynamic between Spider-Man and the Punisher, saying their relationship in the film “was hilarious and they bounced off each other so flawlessly”.
The film currently holds a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising Tom Holland’s performance as his best yet as Peter Parker.
