The second season of The Traitors India has not even started streaming, but the tension inside the palace is already reaching a breaking point. Prime Video released the official trailer for the Karan Johar-hosted reality show, and it gives a clear picture of what is coming. The trailer shows contestants breaking down in tears, pointing fingers at each other, and struggling to handle the psychological pressure of the game.
Mallika Sherawat, Krystle D’Souza, Shweta Tiwari, and Rida Tharana are all seen crying in the trailer. The emotional moments suggest that the game is getting personal much faster than anyone expected.
21 Celebrity Contestants Enter the Palace
The second season brings together 21 celebrities from movies, television, music, comedy, and digital media. The full list of contestants includes:

The show is produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital content arm of Dharma Productions, in collaboration with All3Media International. Karan Johar returns as the host and master orchestrator of the game.
Innocents vs Traitors: The Game of Deception
The format of The Traitors divides the players into two groups – the Innocents and the Traitors. The Innocents must work together to identify and eliminate the Traitors hidden among them. The Traitors, on the other hand, secretly eliminate the Innocents without revealing their identities.
If the Innocents manage to identify all the Traitors by the end, they share the prize money. But if even one Traitor survives, that person takes the entire prize. Every episode ends with a Round Table discussion where players vote out someone they suspect is a Traitor.
The game is built on strategy, trust, and the ability to mislead others. With 21 celebrities from different backgrounds, the second season promises sharper gameplay and more intense drama.
Mallika Sherawat Breaks Down Under Pressure
Mallika Sherawat entered the game with confidence. In earlier promotions, she summed up her approach by saying, “In this game, truth isn’t essential; being convincing is”. But the trailer tells a different story.
Sherawat is seen visibly shaken and in tears during a breakfast scene. “It’s too wicked, ya,” she says, giving viewers a glimpse of how intense the psychological side of the game can become. Later, she sums up the experience by saying, “This is deception on another level”.
The pressure is clearly getting to many contestants. Krystle D’Souza, Shweta Tiwari, and Rida Tharana are also shown in tears. The trailer suggests that the palace is becoming a pressure cooker where trust is rare and betrayal is everywhere.
Accusations Fly as Suspicions Grow
The trailer shows contestants openly naming who they think the Traitors are. Mallika Sherawat wastes no time in making her own call, boldly declaring, “Munawar is the traitor”.
Sahil Salathia, meanwhile, has two names on his radar. He says, “I feel like Shweta and Rhea are the traitors”. The suspicion does not stop there. During the Circle of Shaq, Harman challenges another contestant directly, asking, “How do you know 100% that he’s not a traitor?”
With every accusation demanding a defence and every defence leading to more questions, the game appears to be moving into dangerous territory.
Rhea Chakraborty Warns Against Herd Mentality
Rhea Chakraborty seems to have understood the game’s dynamics early. Calling out the tendency to simply follow what everyone else is saying, she warns the others, “Bhed chaal mein kheloge, toh innocent jaate jayega” (If you follow the herd, you will end up losing your innocence along the way).
Chakraborty has previously spoken about her strategy for the show, saying that the palace operates on a “guilty until proven innocent” rule, and she would want to change that mindset.
Abhishek Malhan Frustrated with Innocents
Abhishek Malhan appears to be getting increasingly frustrated with the Innocents’ inability to identify the Traitors. In one heated moment, he questions whether anyone is even seriously looking for them, saying, “Who is looking for the traitor? Does anyone here have a clue? Who are the traitors?”
His frustration reaches another level when he bluntly says, “Koi aukaat nahi hai Innocents ki” (The innocents have no standing).
Parul Gulati Brings Humour to the Tension
Even in the middle of all the tension, Parul Gulati finds room for humour. As one sees glimpses of Mallika, Krystle, Rida, and Shweta in tears, she tells Kullu, “She’s crying… and she’s a TV actress. Oh my god, they can cry without glycerine”.
The palace also sees some unexpected friction between Parul and Abhishek. Parul confidently compares herself to the dominant ingredient in a dish, declaring, “There’s too much curry in the rajma… just the way I like it”. Her statement does not seem to impress Abhishek, who responds with an equally cheeky dig, “What do I care whether you’re kadhi or sambar… what is this, man?”
Karan Johar Returns with a New Partner
Karan Johar returns as the host, but this season he is joined by a mysterious new character called Boo, billed as the harbinger of the “Buri Khabar” (bad news).
Speaking about the new season, Johar said, “Season 1 of ‘The Traitors’ broke through the clutter and formulaic reality content, and the audience response proved they were ready for something fresh. With Season 2, we knew we had to return with a game that was bigger, sharper, and even more unpredictable”.
He added, “This time, the Players entered the palace fully aware of the format’s twists and traps, armed with strategies, stronger instincts, and a ruthlessness that caught me off guard. This season, you’ll witness friendships unravel, trust give way to paranoia, alliances crumble, and Players make choices that genuinely surprised and at times, even shocked me”.
What to Expect from Season 2
The new season is set against the backdrop of Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer. The trailer shows contestants facing tougher missions, tense Circle of Shaq showdowns, secret alliances, and murders in the tower.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, said, “The response to the first season of ‘The Traitors’ exceeded all expectations – it didn’t just entertain; it became a cultural moment. ‘The Traitors’ has become one of Prime Video India’s most defining reality franchises, transforming the genre with its unique blend of intelligent gameplay, psychological strategy, and riveting entertainment”.
The first season of The Traitors aired on Prime Video from June 12 to July 3 last year and featured Raj Kundra, Mukesh Chhabra, Karan Kundrra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Uorfi Javed, and Maheep Kapoor among others. Uorfi Javed and Rida Tharana were crowned as the winners at the end of episode 10. Interestingly, Rida Tharana is returning for Season 2.
The format, developed by IDTV, has won both BAFTA and Emmy Awards and has been adapted in more than 40 territories worldwide.
