The two-minute, ten-second special look gives audiences the clearest picture yet of Robert Downey Jr. as Victor Von Doom and explains how a once-kind man became the terrifying villain Doctor Doom. Sue Storm’s voiceover describes Victor as someone who “used to be different” and “used to be kind, he used to be caring”. The trailer shows warm imagery of Victor’s earlier life and the people he loved before everything was taken from him. Storm admits, “I knew he was lost, but I did not realize that he was broken”.
The footage includes glimpses of Doom standing before a tapestry depicting his wife and son, hinting that the personal tragedy of losing his family may have shaped his motivations. Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell took the stage at D23 alongside Downey Jr. to tease their returns. Evans acknowledged that Steve Rogers was “so close to getting his happy ending at the end of Avengers: Endgame” before adding, “We should’ve known better”.
Evans recently explained that Marvel repeatedly approached him before finding a story worthy of reversing that farewell. “I said I would only come back if there were a real reason, and in ‘Doomsday,’ there’s a very real reason why these heroes need Steve Rogers,” Evans said. Marvel went so far as to disguise Steve as “Luke Cage” in scripts and production call sheets to conceal Evans’ involvement.
Evans also teased that the film will be “brutal” for Steve Rogers. “The Russos love beating up Steve Rogers,” Evans said. “Their favorite thing to do is to just beat the crap out of him. To them that’s what makes a hero, and that’s someone who gets punched so many times but still gets up”. He added, “They keep finding new ways to kick his butt, but this one was brutal, and a really, really good examination into his nature and his values”.

Tickets Now Available for December Release
Disney has announced that tickets for Avengers: Doomsday are now available for all participating theaters, letting fans book seats nearly three months before the film’s release. Last month, the studio offered tickets to premium-format screenings only.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who previously helmed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The Russo brothers are also set to direct the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, which follows on December 17, 2027.
Avengers: Doomsday brings together heroes from the Avengers, New Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, and original X-Men as their separate universes collide under the threat of Doom. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has cited the “Time Runs Out” storyline, which directly preceded Jonathan Hickman’s “Secret Wars” comics event, as an inspiration for the two-film saga.
