POCO has officially confirmed the global launch date for its next-generation performance smartphones. The POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra are arriving on September 1, 2026, and the company is already building excitement with teasers and chipset announcements. The tagline for this launch is “UltraPower Unbound,” and the official livestream will showcase both devices to the world.
The new F9 series succeeds last year’s POCO F8 Pro and F8 Ultra. This time, POCO is skipping the standard F9 model and focusing only on the Pro and Ultra variants. Both phones are expected to be rebranded versions of Xiaomi’s China-exclusive Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max. That means global audiences will get access to flagship-level hardware that was previously limited to the Chinese market.
Launch Date and Streaming Details
The POCO F9 series will make its global debut on September 1, 2026 at 8:00 PM GMT+8. For viewers in different regions, here is when the livestream begins:
- India: 5:30 PM IST on September 1
- United Kingdom: 1:00 PM BST
- United States (ET): 8:00 AM EDT
- Australia (AEST): 10:00 PM AEST
The official launch event will stream across POCO’s social media channels and video platforms. Full regional pricing and retail availability will be announced during the event.
Design and Color Options
POCO has revealed two striking color options for the F9 series. The POCO F9 Ultra comes in a Dark Cherry finish with a textured glass fiber design that provides a premium matte feel and better grip. The POCO F9 Pro arrives in Aurora Green, featuring a full-panel luminous rear casing that absorbs light and glows in dark environments.
The Dark Cherry shade closely resembles the Cabernet Sauvignon color available on the Redmi K100 series in China. Both phones feature large rounded corners and a distinctive rear camera island.
Sound by Bose Partnership
One of the most interesting additions to the POCO F9 series is the Sound by Bose branding. Both models integrate a dedicated Bose-tuned sound system located on the rear camera module. This marks a major audio upgrade for POCO and suggests the company is partnering with the premium audio brand to deliver better sound quality.
The POCO F9 Ultra goes a step further with an LED notification ring around the rear speaker. This ring lights up for notifications, calls, and alerts, adding a visual element to the audio experience.
Display Specifications
Both phones come with high-refresh-rate OLED displays designed for smooth scrolling and gaming.
- POCO F9 Pro: 6.59-inch QHD+ Plastic OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate
- POCO F9 Ultra: 6.85-inch to 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate and 2608×1200 pixel resolution
Both screens offer 4,500 nits peak HDR brightness. The displays use Gorilla Glass 7i for protection. With 185Hz refresh rates, these phones will deliver some of the smoothest visuals available on any smartphone.
Processor and Performance
POCO has confirmed that both models will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset family. However, there is a key difference between the two models.
The POCO F9 Ultra features the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This is the same chip that appeared in the previous F8 Ultra.
The POCO F9 Pro uses a binned version of the chip, known as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series. This V-series variant has higher CPU clock speeds but a streamlined GPU with 33% fewer processing units. The reduced GPU configuration still delivers stable performance for gaming and demanding tasks.
Both phones will come with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. These specifications place the F9 series firmly in flagship territory.
Camera Setup
POCO is equipping the F9 series with powerful camera systems. Both models share a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS).
POCO F9 Pro Camera:
- 200MP main camera with OIS
- 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS
- 8MP ultra-wide camera
- 32MP front camera
POCO F9 Ultra Camera:
- 200MP main camera with OIS
- 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom
- 50MP ultra-wide camera
- 32MP front camera
The Ultra model clearly offers better zoom capabilities and a superior ultra-wide lens compared to the Pro version.
Battery and Charging
Battery capacity is one of the biggest differences between the two models.
- POCO F9 Pro: 6,330mAh battery
- POCO F9 Ultra: 8,050mAh battery
Both phones support 100W wired HyperCharge. The POCO F9 Ultra also gets 50W wireless charging. These battery capacities are actually smaller than their Redmi K100 counterparts. The Redmi K100 Pro has 8,580mAh and the K100 Pro Max has 9,070mAh. POCO reduced the battery sizes for the global models.
Durability and Build Quality
Both POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra come with IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance ratings. They feature aluminum frames and fiberglass-reinforced plastic backs. The IP69 rating means these phones can handle high-pressure water jets, making them some of the most durable smartphones in their class.
Expected Pricing
Leaked pricing information suggests the POCO F9 Pro will start at around €799 ($927 USD), while the POCO F9 Ultra could cost €999 ($1,160 USD). These prices are based on leaks and have not been officially confirmed by POCO.
For Indian buyers, the estimated prices translate to roughly:
- POCO F9 Pro: Around ₹72,000
- POCO F9 Ultra: Around ₹90,000
These are approximate conversions and official pricing will be revealed during the September 1 launch event.
India Availability
Indian viewers will need to stay up late to catch the launch. The event happens at 1:30 AM IST on September 2. POCO has not yet confirmed whether the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra will be available in India. The previous F8 series did not launch in India, so fans are waiting for official confirmation. The POCO F7 remains the most recent F-series phone sold in India.
Redmi K100 Series Connection
The POCO F9 series shares its hardware with the Redmi K100 series that launched in China earlier this month. The POCO F9 Pro is based on the Redmi K100 Pro, and the POCO F9 Ultra is based on the Redmi K100 Pro Max. This follows Xiaomi’s strategy of bringing China-exclusive Redmi hardware to global markets under the POCO brand. The designs are nearly identical, with POCO simply replacing the Redmi branding.
