Akanksha Chamola has firmly responded to social media influencer Orry’s accusation that she is “milking” her estranged husband Gaurav Khanna’s fame for attention. The Lock Upp 2 contestant dismissed the claim in a recent interview, stating that her growing popularity comes directly from the audience and not from riding on anyone else’s name.
The controversy began after Orry, who participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 alongside Gaurav, made sharp comments on social media. He accused Akanksha of using her separation from Gaurav to gain views. Now, Akanksha has broken her silence and rejected the allegations, making it clear that she is not asking for the spotlight—it is being given to her.
Orry’s Harsh Comments Ignite the Debate
The drama started when Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, commented on an Instagram post by The Glitz Media. The post featured a collage of Gaurav Khanna alongside Akanksha Chamola and KKK15 contestant Shagun Sharma, who had earlier accused Gaurav of bullying her on the show. Orry did not hold back in his response.
“She is just blackening his good name and milking his fame for her own views. No one knows who she is. I didn’t even know he was married, and we shared a vanity van for a month in Cape Town during KKK filming. This is completely shameless behaviour, to test and take advantage of a good man. This girl is a real snake in the grass.”
Orry also addressed Shagun Sharma’s bullying allegations against Gaurav, saying he himself had bullied Shagun more during the show, but they remain good friends. His comment quickly went viral, adding fuel to the ongoing discussions about Gaurav and Akanksha’s personal life.
Akanksha Chamola’s Strong Rebuttal
In an interview with Telly Masala, Akanksha Chamola addressed Orry’s claims head-on. She questioned the logic behind the accusation, pointing out that no one can simply use another person’s popularity to gain attention.
“How can someone use another person’s popularity? No one can do that. So that person needs to get out from that concept first. If someone is giving you attention, then there is some credential there which belongs to you too. There are so many celebrities and their wives, so many cases where they are going through a divorce. Even in Bigg Boss, so many family members have come, their babies have come. How many family members are famous?”
She further explained that the attention she is receiving is not something she has demanded. Instead, it comes naturally from the audience.
“I am not saying that I am someone out of this world hence the attention, but I know that the attention and popularity I am receiving is because audience mujhe de rahi hai (the audience is giving me that). Main nahi maang rahi hu (I am not asking for it). I am very happy and grateful for that. Now should I go on the road and shout that I need attention, will I get it? That too in Mumbai? I am talking about the entire nation. I need to know the science behind this, that how someone can use another person’s popularity.”
Akanksha made it clear that she is not disappointed by Orry’s remarks and believes everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The Divorce Revelation on Lock Upp 2
The entire controversy stems from Akanksha’s appearance on Lock Upp Season 2, the reality show hosted by Kangana Ranaut. During the premiere episode, Akanksha shocked viewers by revealing that she and Gaurav Khanna are getting divorced. She disclosed that they had been living separately for over a year and that their conflicting life goals—especially regarding having children—played a major role in their decision to part ways.
Akanksha and Gaurav got married on November 24, 2016, in Kanpur, after meeting during an audition. Their wedding was a lavish three-day celebration. However, differences crept in over time. Akanksha also revealed on the show that she had identified as bisexual before her marriage, which added another layer to the public discussion.
When Gaurav later entered the Lock Upp house to support Akanksha, he clarified that they are still legally married and have not yet filed for divorce papers due to their busy schedules.
Other Reactions and Industry Backlash
Akanksha’s decision to discuss her divorce on a reality platform has drawn criticism from other celebrities as well. Actress Aanchal Khurana questioned Akanksha’s choice, alleging that the divorce had been “monetised” through the show. This further fueled the debate about whether personal matters should be discussed on public platforms for entertainment.
Meanwhile, Gaurav Khanna has largely remained silent on the controversy. He has not directly responded to Orry’s comments or Aanchal’s allegations. However, when he appeared on Lock Upp to support Akanksha, he made it clear that he stands by her and that their separation is a personal matter.
Shagun Sharma’s Bullying Allegations Add to the Mix
The situation became more complex when Shagun Sharma, another Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 contestant, accused Gaurav of bullying her on the show. She claimed that Gaurav often singled her out during tasks, calling her weak and saying she gives up easily. However, she also added that she cannot say whether Gaurav behaves the same way in real life, as people often become different versions of themselves in reality show settings.
Orry, who was also a contestant on KKK15, dismissed Shagun’s allegations by pointing out that he had bullied her more during the show, and they are still good friends.
