Sheriff Country is getting ready for its second season on CBS. Michele Weaver is back as Deputy Cassidy Campbell. Her character has a rivalry with another deputy. Weaver has appeared in Love Is, Council of Dads, and Briarpatch.

W. Earl Brown returns as Wes Fox. He plays Mickey’s father, who is an off-the-grid marijuana grower. Brown is known for his work in Scream and many other projects.

Two Actors Promoted to Series Regulars

CBS announced a major casting change for Season 2. Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan have been promoted from recurring stars to main cast members.

Amanda Arcuri plays Skye Fraley. She is the daughter of Sheriff Mickey Fox and Travis Fraley. Skye is a sensitive young woman trying to rebuild her life after being suspected of killing her boyfriend. Arcuri appeared in seven episodes of Season 1. She previously had a main role in Degrassi: Next Class.

Ian Quinlan plays Deputy Hank Iglesias. He is a brash, impulsive deputy with a sharp sense of humor. Hank has a friendly rivalry with Deputy Cassidy Campbell. Quinlan appeared in only four episodes of Season 1. He previously played Officer Luis Badillo in 29 episodes of Blue Bloods.

Showrunner Matt Lopez told TV Insider that Hank and Cassidy have a “great rapport” that will be explored more in Season 2.

New Guest Stars Joining Season 2

Season 2 will bring some fresh faces to Edgewater.

Ben McKenzie will appear as a guest star. He plays Sheriff Wade, the sheriff of a nearby town. McKenzie is known for his roles in The O.C. and Gotham. He is also Morena Baccarin’s real-life husband. This will be an on-screen reunion for the couple.

Jacqueline Emerson, Jacob Reardon, and Jessica Greco will also appear in Season 2.

What to Expect from Season 2 Storylines

The Season 1 finale left viewers with some shocking moments. Mickey learned that Deputy Director Eva Santos is actually her mother. She thought her mother had died years earlier.

Showrunner Matt Lopez said Season 2 will start with a “small time jump”. The show will explore what happened in the missing time and unpack why Eva stayed away from her family.

“She really needs to look inward. And what does that mean for who she is and how she raises her family and how her relationship with Skye, her relationship with Wes, and so on.”

Lopez also said the show will explore how much Eva Santos was trying to learn about her daughter. Mickey will be questioning Eva’s decisions in Season 2.

The DEA’s investigation into Fraley Horizons will also be a key plot point. Travis Fraley took over the family business at the end of Season 1, which will create challenges for him.

Skye will try to “salvage” Fraley Horizons with her father. The show will also focus on Skye’s relationship with her grandmother. Lopez described this as a “nice multigenerational journey”.
