A Guinness World Record has been set by Allu Arjun and director Atlee‘s upcoming film Raaka for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time.” The record was achieved by capturing 37 performers simultaneously in a single motion-capture session. The cast and crew received the official certificate on the film’s sets in Mumbai on September 15, 2026, with the public announcement made on September 21 to coincide with Atlee’s birthday.
What Exactly Is The Guinness World Record?
Raaka has entered the Guinness World Records for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time.” The official Guinness World Records website confirms that “the most people motion-captured in real-time is 37 and was achieved by Sun TV Network Limited and V. Arunkumar (alias) Atlee (both India) for the movie ‘RAAKA’ starring Allu Arjun in Mumbai, India.”
The record-setting exercise was carried out in February 2026 and was officially certified on September 15, 2026. The certificate was presented to Allu Arjun and Atlee by Swapnil Dangrikar, Senior Adjudicator at Guinness World Records, at a ceremony attended by the film’s core cast and crew.
Motion capture, often called mocap, is a technology that records a real person’s movements and transfers them to a digital or CGI character. A well-known example is Gollum from The Lord of the Rings, where actor Andy Serkis‘ movements were used to create the character. For Raaka, the challenge was not just capturing one person, but 37 individuals moving at the same time within a single capture space.
How The Record Was Achieved
The 37 performers who took part in the session ranged in age from a four-year-old child to a 70-year-old. The core challenge was to accurately record and preserve the individual performances of all 37 participants simultaneously within one capture volume.
To make this possible, the film’s VFX Producer developed a new motion-capture pipeline and workflow tailored to Raaka‘s scale and technical needs. The setup involved 92 optical motion-capture cameras deployed within an advanced technical ecosystem. This system integrated capture and calibration technology, networking and synchronisation, real-time Unreal visualisation, witness cameras, and facial capture. Multiple specialist teams worked together to execute the session.
Allu Arjun And Atlee Share Their Reactions
Allu Arjun shared his thoughts on the achievement, saying:

About The Film Raaka
Raaka is directed by Atlee and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. The film stars Allu Arjun in the lead role, with Deepika Padukone as the female lead. The reported cast also includes Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, and Ramya Krishnan in key roles.
The film is reportedly being made on a massive budget of around ₹800 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever. The story is said to be set across two timelines, one in a tribal Puranic-Vedic era and another in the present day. Allu Arjun is reportedly playing a triple role in the film.
Raaka marks the first collaboration between Allu Arjun and Atlee. The project was officially announced in April 2025 with the working title AA22xA6, referring to Allu Arjun’s 22nd film as a lead actor and Atlee’s sixth directorial venture.
Behind The Scenes Video Shared
Sun Pictures also released a behind-the-scenes video on its Instagram handle showing the motion-capture process. The footage included glimpses of all 37 performers being recorded together in real time, along with technical teams monitoring the footage and data. Several technicians who have worked on the Fast and Furious film series and Spider-Man movies were also spotted working on the project.

Release Information
Raaka is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027. Reports indicate that the makers are targeting a December 2027 release, though an official date has not been announced yet. The film is expected to release in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, for audiences in India and worldwide markets including the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia.
