Overgeared is finally making the jump from web novel and webtoon to television anime. The adaptation, officially titled Tempal: Item no Chikara in Japan, arrives this fall with a slightly unusual release plan. The first episode lands early on Crunchyroll and Prime Video Japan on September 27, 2026, days before the Japanese TV broadcast begins on October 2, 2026. The series comes from J.C. Staff, the studio behind Sword Art Online Progressive and One-Punch Man Season 3, and it is based on the long-running Korean web novel by Saenal Park.
The story follows Shin Youngwoo, a debt-ridden young man who plays the virtual reality MMORPG Satisfy. In the game, he is known as Grid, a painfully average player with terrible luck. Everything changes when he finds Pagma’s Rare Book, a legendary item that gives him the hidden blacksmith class Pagma’s Successor. The catch is brutal: using the book resets all his levels. Grid must rebuild from scratch, using his new crafting powers to create equipment no other player can match.

The release plan is split between an early streaming window and the regular TV broadcast.
Crunchyroll begins streaming internationally on September 27, 2026, as part of its Fall 2026 anime lineup. The platform has confirmed a massive 14-language dub plan, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Italian, Polish, Thai, and Tagalog. The exact weekly upload time on Crunchyroll has not been locked down yet, but episodes are expected to arrive shortly after the Japanese broadcast.
In Japan, Prime Video gets an early weekly streaming window starting September 27. The regular television broadcast follows on Tokyo MX and BS11 on October 2 at 11:30 p.m. JST. New episodes air weekly on Fridays.

Some early reports suggested a longer run, but the 12-episode listing is the most consistent figure across tracking sites. Crunchyroll and J.C. Who Voices Grid and the Main Cast
Tatsumaru Tachibana, known for his role in The God of High School, voices Grid / Shin Youngwoo. Asami Seto, who played Nobara in Jujutsu Kaisen, voices Yura. The rest of the main cast includes Saya Fukuzumi as Euphemina, Shuntaro Takayama as Huroi, Riho Sugiyama as Jishuka, Masaaki Mizunaka as Toban, Yasushi Bonkobara as Regas, Masaya Fukunishi as Vantner, Kohei Amasaki as Pon, and Shunichi Toki as Faker. Yuki Murata voices Irene, and Yurika Hirayama voices Isabel.
Behind the scenes, Ayako Kono directs the series at J.C. Staff. Kenta Ihara handles series composition, Ryosuke Tanigawa designs the characters, Yoshiaki Fujisawa composes the music, and Yoshikazu Iwanami serves as sound director. Egg Firm is producing.
Theme Songs and Trailers
The opening theme is “SATISFY” by rock band Re:name. The ending theme is “Ray of Emotion” by virtual singer TAO. Both songs were previewed in the third trailer, which debuted on September 13, 2026, alongside a new key visual and the cast additions of Irene and Isabel.
Where to Watch Globally
Crunchyroll is the primary international destination for the series. It will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, India, and most worldwide territories where Crunchyroll operates. The platform is also screening the first episode in U.S. and Canadian theaters as part of its Crunchyroll Anime Nights program on September 21, with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
Prime Video Japan offers the early weekly streaming window for Japanese viewers. The show will also be available on other Japanese streaming services after the TV broadcast begins. For viewers in India, Crunchyroll has confirmed Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs, making it one of the platform’s most accessible Fall 2026 releases for the region.
The J.C. Staff Factor
J.C. Staff’s involvement has drawn extra attention, and not all of it positive. The studio’s recent production of One-Punch Man Season 3 faced heavy criticism for animation quality and scheduling issues. Some fans have raised concerns about whether Overgeared will receive consistent animation treatment. The trailers have shown solid action sequences, but the character design for Grid has been a talking point. Overgeared began as a Korean web novel by Saenal Park, serialized on KakaoPage from 2014 to 2024. The novel is complete at 2,059 chapters.
