Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli walked the 2026 MTV VMAs blue carpet together on September 27, putting weeks of online feud rumors to rest. The Off Campus co-stars laughed off the speculation in interviews, saying they are extremely close and spend every day together on set. Their joint appearance came just days after they wrapped filming for Season 2 of the Prime Video series.
The rumors started in July when fans noticed that both actors had removed photos of each other from their Instagram profiles. The speculation grew louder when Cameli archived several posts featuring Bright. Some fans believed there was real tension between the two.
What Ella Bright Said About the Rumors
Bright spoke with Entertainment Tonight on the carpet and called the rumors funny. She explained that she and Cameli were sitting together in the green room when they first saw the speculation online.
“We’re like in the green room and he’s like, ‘Have you seen this?’ I’m like, ‘LOL.’ Sitting right next to him, scrolling on our phones, ‘Oh, you saw that? Do you remember when I said that?’ It’s like, never happened.”
She also told E! News that the photo removals were nothing personal. “I mean, god forbid I wanted an aesthetic Instagram,” she joked. “My bad. I’m so sorry… It’s so funny. So, we’re just laughing about it. That’s all you can do.”
Bright described Cameli as one of her best friends. She also said the entire Off Campus cast, including Mika Abdalla, Stephen Kalyn, Antonio Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks, feel like family to her.
Belmont Cameli Calls the Rumors Entertaining
Cameli also spoke with ET on the carpet. He said he laughs every time he hears the feud rumors and is happy to put them to bed.
“Ella and I are extremely close. It’s really entertaining and sometimes fascinating the conclusions people will jump to. Um yeah, that’s certainly not one of them. She’s the best.”
When asked about Bright calling him one of her best friends, Cameli confirmed it was true. He has previously said the attention from fans has been “all new and kind of strange.”
A Red Carpet Reunion With Different Looks
Bright and Cameli arrived at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles with completely different fashion choices. Bright wore a black corseted gown with cat-eye sunglasses, while Cameli went with a denim-on-denim look and square rimless glasses.
Bright walked the carpet solo earlier in the night. She then doubled back to accompany Cameli when he arrived. The pair also took the stage together as presenters. They introduced rising pop singer Sienna Spiro’s performance. The crowd cheered so loudly that Bright had to pause briefly before speaking.
Season 2 Wraps Filming
Off Campus Season 2 finished filming in late September. A video shared by gossip blog Deuxmoi showed Cameli pulling Bright into a hug as they waved to fans on set. The tip described them as “hugging and crying” and cheering each other on.
Season 1 premiered in May and reached 36 million viewers worldwide in its first 12 days, according to Prime Video. It became the streamer’s third-largest series debut behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout.
The first season followed music student Hannah Wells and hockey captain Garrett Graham as they started a fake-dating arrangement that turned into something real. Season 2 will shift focus to Alli Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis, played by Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn. Bright and Cameli confirmed that Hannah and Garrett will still be part of the story.
The Instagram Drama Explained
The feud rumors began after fans noticed that both actors had cleaned up their Instagram profiles. Cameli removed photos that included Bright. Bright also archived some posts featuring Cameli. Some fans took this as a sign of a falling out.
Cameli’s girlfriend, Raina Morris, also spoke out in July. She asked fans to stop messaging her family members about the show. “They are so confused,” she wrote on Instagram Stories. “Write in your diary and then go on a walk instead!”
Bright addressed the rumors in August with a comment on a TikTok video. She wrote, “Everything is fine. Just move along your day,” according to a screenshot shared by a fan.
