Where the Story Left Off: First Cour Recap
The first cour of Ace of the Diamond Act II -Second Season- covered episodes 1 through 13, airing from April 5 to June 28, 2026. The season opened with Seido competing in the West Tokyo Summer Tournament, the final summer for third-year players including captain Kazuya Miyuki.
Eijun Sawamura began the season wearing the ace number for the first time. His journey through the first cour showed him growing into the role, though not without struggles. The left-handed pitcher worked on expanding his pitch repertoire, particularly his “Numbers” breaking balls, while learning to trust his teammates more.
Satoru Furuya dealt with inconsistency and injury concerns throughout the first cour. His redemption arc came in the quarterfinals against Sosei High, where he threw a complete game shutout with fastballs reaching 158 km/h. Furuya finished that game in 92 pitches, showing a new focus on efficiency over pure power.
The quarterfinals also featured a matchup between Ichidaisan High and Yakushi High. Ichidaisan’s ace Amahisa controlled the game with his pitching variations, while Yakushi’s power hitter Raichi Todoroki threatened to break through. Ichidaisan led 2-0 after seven innings before Yakushi attempted a late comeback.
The first cour ended with Seido advancing to the semifinals, where they were set to face Inashiro Industrial and their ace pitcher Mei Narumiya. This semifinal matchup carries heavy emotional weight, as Inashiro previously defeated Seido in a heartbreaking final that sent the third-year seniors home two years ago.
Character Story Progress Entering Part 2
Eijun Sawamura enters the second cour as Seido’s ace, a role he has worked toward since joining the team. His growth has been gradual, using past frustrations as motivation. Sawamura has been developing his pitch arsenal with the help of Koushu Okumura, experimenting with new grips to expand his “Numbers” pitches. His relationship with Miyuki as his catcher remains central to his performance on the mound.
Satoru Furuya has shown signs of returning to form after struggling with consistency and injuries. His complete game shutout against Sosei demonstrated improved control and a more mature approach to pitching. The first cour highlighted a shift in his dynamic with Sawamura, moving from pure rivalry to mutual support for the team’s success.
Kazuya Miyuki continues to anchor the team as captain and catcher. This is his final summer, adding emotional weight to every game. Miyuki’s game-calling and leadership have been critical in guiding Seido’s young pitchers through high-pressure situations.
Haruichi Kominato has established himself as a reliable presence in Seido’s lineup. His batting and fielding have provided stability while the team’s pitchers develop.
Yoichi Kuramochi remains Seido’s sparkplug at the top of the batting order and at shortstop. His speed and aggressive baserunning give the team scoring opportunities in tight games.
Mei Narumiya, Inashiro’s ace, appears in the new key visual for Part 2, highlighting the semifinal rematch as the central storyline. Narumiya is one of the strongest pitchers in the series, known for his pitch control, deception and ability to perform under pressure.
Amahisa of Ichidaisan showed growth in the first cour, expanding his pitching approach. His performance against Yakushi demonstrated his ability to dominate opposing lineups with a mix of control and pitch variation.
Raichi Todoroki of Yakushi remains one of the most dangerous hitters in the tournament. His at-bats against Ichidaisan created tension and set up late-game drama.
New Cast Addition for Part 2
Daisuke Sakuma from the idol group Snow Man joins the cast as Shinichiro Saotome from Inashiro High School. Sakuma has previously appeared in anime roles including Kaito Hibiki in You and Idol Precure, Shin Kohazame in Kill Blue, and Michiru Hazama in Cardfight!! Vanguard.
The main voice cast returns for the second cour, including Ryota Ohsaka as Eijun Sawamura, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Satoru Furuya, and Takahiro Sakurai as Kazuya Miyuki. Shunsuke Takeuchi voices Yuki Masashi, Natsuki Hanae voices Haruichi Kominato, and Shintaro Asanuma voices Yoichi Kuramochi.
Production Staff and Theme Songs
Hideaki Oba directs the season at OLM, taking over from Mitsuyuki Masuhara. Kenji Konuta returns to oversee series scripts, having worked on the previous three anime in the franchise. Yasukazu Shoji serves as character designer, replacing Minoru Ueda and Satoshi Tasaki. Hajime Hyakkoku returns to compose the music.
The opening theme for the second cour is “GLAY” and the ending theme is performed by OxT. The first cour’s opening theme was “Let’s Go Crazy” by Baby Canta, with SUPER★DRAGON performing the ending theme “Number.”
