What Happens in Episode 1
Episode 1 is titled “Takatsuki Makoto Becomes a Believer.” The story opens with Makoto Takatsuki, a high school student and devoted RPG player, returning from a training camp with his classmates. A bus accident sends the entire class to another world. Every student receives powerful cheat abilities and strong stats from the gods of this new land, except for Makoto. He is given the lowest-ranked class, “Apprentice Mage,” with weak stats and a life expectancy of only ten years.
While his classmates are scouted by nations and head off on adventures, Makoto trains alone as the weakest magic user. His situation shifts when Noah, a self-described minor goddess with no believers, appears in his dreams. She desperately asks him to become her first follower. Makoto agrees, and Noah delivers a divine mission: rescue her from a dungeon that no human has ever cleared. With Noah’s blessings and a divine weapon, Makoto begins a journey that relies on game-style problem-solving rather than raw power.
The episode sets up the core dynamic between Makoto and Noah. A goddess with no followers and a boy with no special talents form an unlikely partnership built on persistence and clever tactics. The first promo video for the anime, released on September 30, shows Makoto’s arrival in the new world, his early struggles, and his first meeting with Noah in an RPG-style dialogue box. The trailer closes with the promise that the two will reach the top together.
Main Characters and Their Roles
Makoto Takatsuki (voiced by Sohei Horikane) is the protagonist. He is a hardcore gamer who knows how to grind, strategize, and find unconventional solutions to problems. His weak starting stats do not stop him from treating this new world like a game to be cleared.
Noah Titan (voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa) is a minor goddess trapped in a dungeon. She has no believers and offers Makoto whatever scraps of divine power she can provide. Her role as a desperate goddess who depends on a single follower sets the series apart from typical isekai stories.
Supporting characters include Lucy (voiced by Yukina Shuto), an elf mage with immense magical power but poor control, described as Makoto’s first companion. Aya Sasaki (voiced by Hitomi Sekine) is Makoto’s classmate and friend from middle school. Michio Fujiwara (voiced by Masaaki Mizunaka) is another classmate and close friend who runs the Fujiwara Trading Company. Nina (voiced by Lynn) is a veteran adventurer and shop clerk. Ryosuke Sakurai (voiced by Kensho Ono), Sofia (voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro), and Marie (voiced by Rumi Okubo) round out the main cast.
