George Maguire will play Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure, a new London stage production from Secret Cinema and TodayTix. The casting was announced on October 21, 2026, alongside the full main cast and a six-week extension of the show’s run. The production is not the next Pirates movie. It is a live, walk-through theatrical experience built around the first film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Who Is Playing Jack Sparrow
George Maguire is a 35-year-old English actor and musician. He was one of the three original actors to share the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical in London’s West End, and he won a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for that performance in 2006 alongside James Lomas and Liam Mower. He later won a second Olivier, for Best Supporting Actor, for his role in Sunny Afternoon in 2015.
His screen work includes EastEnders, Prime Suspect, Borgia, and the upcoming film Wicker with Olivia Colman. Maguire takes over a role that Johnny Depp played across five movies, starting with The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003.
The Full Cast Around Him
The main cast was confirmed by Secret Cinema and reported by Variety, WhatsOnStage, Playbill, and Digital Spy.
- Phil Daniels as Captain Barbossa. Daniels is known for Quadrophenia, EastEnders, and voicing a character in Chicken Run.
- Lily Blunsom as Elizabeth Swann.
- Harrison Wilde as Will Turner.
- Gleanne Purcell-Brown as Anamaria, the role Zoe Saldaña played in the 2003 film.
Additional casting will be named later. Matt Costain, also an Olivier winner, is directing.
What the Show Will Feel Like
The production is described as fully immersive. It uses selected clips from The Curse of the Black Pearl rather than screening the full movie. Large sets, live actors, stunts, and a live band fill out the experience. Audiences can walk through the sets, meet the characters, and take part in the story over roughly two hours.
The creative team includes Jason Sherwood, a two-time Emmy winner, as production designer, Kait Kerrigan as theatrical adaptor, and Alan Williams as musical supervisor. The show is licensed through Disney Theatrical Group.
“We’ve taken everything Secret Cinema does best and pushed it further than ever before, creating a new kind of theatrical experience where the story doesn’t just happen in front of you – it happens all around you.” — Merritt Baer, Secret Cinema artistic director and producer
“Secret Cinema has assembled a remarkable team to create an experience that is both artistically ambitious and wonderfully entertaining. It’s a chance for audiences to experience the world of Tortuga in an entirely new way.” — Angelo Desimini, Disney Theatrical Group senior vice president
When It Opens and Where
Previews begin on February 16, 2027. The official opening night is March 10, 2027. The show runs at Secret Cinema’s new purpose-built venue at Greenwich Peninsula in London, near the O2. The venue sits beside the River Thames.
Strong demand led producers to add six weeks to the original run. Performances are now advertised through June 6, 2027.
Ticket Prices and Availability
Tickets are on sale through TodayTix. Prices start from around £43 to £50 for standing general admission. Seated roam-and-return tickets start at £69. The best availability is currently listed for dates after March 16, 2027.

Johnny Depp and the Movie Franchise Are Not Part of This
Johnny Depp is not involved in the stage show. A separate Pirates of the Caribbean 6 movie has been discussed for years, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer saying in August 2026 that talks with Depp about returning were ongoing. Those talks concern a film, not this London production. Reports in August 2026 also said a sixth movie could focus on a new lead character played by Margot Robbie, with Depp possibly in a supporting role. No release date has been set for that film.
