Nagarjuna Akkineni has officially joined the cast of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The announcement was made on August 29, 2024, coinciding with Nagarjuna’s 65th birthday. The news has generated significant excitement among fans and movie enthusiasts alike, as it brings together two of the most celebrated actors in the Indian film industry.

Nagarjuna’s First Look as Simon

The filmmakers unveiled Nagarjuna’s first look from Coolie, presenting him as Simon. In a striking monochrome poster, Nagarjuna is portrayed in a rugged and intense style, complete with a beard, moustache, dark sunglasses, and a gold watch. The poster has already created a buzz, with fans eagerly sharing and discussing the actor’s new avatar across social media platforms.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj expressed his excitement about Nagarjuna’s inclusion in the film by sharing the poster on social media. His post read:

“Kicked to have King Nagarjuna sir joining the cast of Coolie as Simon. Welcome on board and wishing you a very happy birthday sir.”

The character of Simon is expected to play a significant role in the movie, adding another layer of intrigue to a project that has already generated substantial anticipation. Nagarjuna’s fans were particularly thrilled by the announcement, as it marks another milestone in the actor’s illustrious career.

Expanding Star Cast: Recent Additions

Just a day before Nagarjuna’s introduction, the makers of Coolie had revealed that Soubin Shahir, known for his work in Manjummel Boys, would also be joining the cast. Shahir’s character, Dayal, was introduced through a monochrome poster showing him in a contemplative pose, staring at a gold wristwatch while holding a cigarette. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj welcomed him to the film with a similar post, highlighting the growing ensemble of talent involved in the project.

Star-Studded Cast and Anticipation

Coolie has been one of the most talked-about films of the year, with its star-studded cast and the collaboration between Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film marks Rajinikanth’s 171st role, a landmark in his legendary career. The movie has also attracted attention for its potential cameo by Aamir Khan, which has further heightened the curiosity of fans. Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth were last seen together in the film Aatank Hi Aatank, making this potential reunion all the more exciting.

In addition to Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, and possibly Aamir Khan, the film’s cast includes Kannada star Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj. Upendra Rao’s involvement in the film has been confirmed, with reports indicating that he will play a pivotal role alongside Rajinikanth. Meanwhile, Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj are set to take on prominent roles, further enhancing the film’s appeal.

One of the film’s most exciting aspects is the reunion of Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj after three decades. Their last collaboration was in the 1991 film Annamalai, which remains a classic in Indian cinema. The two actors sharing the screen once again is a significant draw for fans, adding to the film’s already high expectations.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vision for Coolie

Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his unique storytelling style and ability to craft engaging narratives, is at the helm of Coolie. His previous works have garnered critical acclaim, and his partnership with Rajinikanth is expected to result in a compelling cinematic experience. The director’s meticulous approach to casting and character development has been evident in the way he has introduced each actor to the audience, building anticipation for the film’s release.

As of now, other details about the film remain under wraps, with the filmmakers maintaining a level of secrecy that only adds to the excitement. However, with each new announcement, Coolie continues to build momentum as one of the most eagerly awaited films in recent times.
