Coldplay and Travis Scott recently brought fans a unique crossover moment during Coldplay’s concert in Sydney, Australia, on November 10. Known for his willingness to experiment, Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin surprised the audience by integrating one of Scott’s hits into Coldplay’s performance, creating an unexpected yet memorable fusion between two popular musical styles. Scott, a self-proclaimed fan of Coldplay, appreciated the gesture, further showcasing the admiration between these two prominent artists from different genres.

Chris Martin Teases Coldplay’s Favorite Travis Scott Track

During the Sydney concert, Martin received an unusual request from an enthusiastic fan asking the band to perform FE!N from Scott’s recent album, Utopia. In fan-captured footage, Martin, 47, seemed momentarily taken aback by the unexpected song suggestion.

Humorously admitting he couldn’t remember every track in Scott’s discography, he nevertheless took a moment to reflect on his favorite Scott song, which turned out to be Goosebumps from Scott’s 2016 album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight. Known for experimenting with new sounds, Coldplay chose to creatively weave Goosebumps into their own classic God Put a Smile Upon Your Face from their 2002 album, A Rush of Blood to the Head. The crowd appreciated the unique blend, capturing the rare moment on camera.

Travis Scott’s Response on Social Media

Scott, 33, responded to the performance with excitement, sharing a clip on X (formerly Twitter). He expressed his enthusiasm by writing, “This got it,” alongside a goat emoji, recognizing Coldplay as one of the “Greatest of All Time” in music. Scott’s admiration for Coldplay is well-documented, as he has previously mentioned his appreciation for the British band.

He has even referenced Coldplay in his own songs, such as TIL FURTHER NOTICE and way back. In an earlier interview with Complex in 2012, Scott named Coldplay among his more surprising musical influences, revealing his eclectic taste. He praised the group for their unique approach to melody, describing Coldplay’s music as having “the craziest, aired-out choruses” while admitting he found their sound “too happy” compared to his own style.

Coldplay and Travis Scott’s Cross-Genre Appreciation

Coldplay’s music has long appealed to a diverse range of listeners, including high-profile fans from different musical genres. Chris Martin, in particular, has shown interest in hip-hop, having collaborated with artists like JAY-Z, Kanye West, and Big Sean. This openness to other genres and sounds has played a role in Coldplay’s widespread appeal and cross-genre experimentation.

As one of the leading figures in contemporary hip-hop, Travis Scott’s influence reaches beyond his primary genre. His collaboration history includes artists from varying musical backgrounds, and his recent album, Utopia, reflects his broad creative range. Coldplay’s tribute serves as another recognition of Scott’s impact, highlighting the way his work resonates across musical boundaries.
