South Korean stars Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki, once a power couple adored by fans worldwide, shocked everyone with their sudden divorce in 2019. While the exact reasons behind their split remained private, recent reports from Chinese media shed light on a possible contributing factor: differing desires for children.
According to the Luzhong Morning Post, Song Hye Kyo, known for her roles in hit dramas like “Descendants of the Sun,” initially held reservations about marriage. However, her co-star Song Joong Ki, with whom she shared sizzling on-screen chemistry, reportedly desired a married life and eventually persuaded her.
Their contrasting views on parenthood surfaced after their wedding. News outlets in China claim Song Joong Ki expressed a strong yearning to start a family soon after they tied the knot. Song Hye Kyo, on the other hand, reportedly prioritized career stability before considering children. This fundamental difference allegedly caused repeated conflicts that ultimately led to their separation just two years into their marriage.
Following their divorce, Song Hye Kyo reportedly returned to her preference for staying single. Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki remarried in 2023 and is now a proud father of two children.
