The second season of Hallmark Channel’s popular series The Chicken Sisters is here, with Wendie Malick and Lea Thompson taking center stage as former rivals turned roommates. The show, which premiered on August 10, 2025, continues the story of feuding fried chicken restaurants and the families behind them. This season, fans will see Malick’s Gus and Thompson’s Nancy living together, bringing humor and heart to the small town of Merinac.

A New Dynamic for Gus and Nancy

In Season 1, Gus and Nancy were fierce competitors, representing two rival chicken restaurants. Their feud even led to a memorable mud fight. But now, after the events of the first season, the two women are living under the same roof.

“We really are The Odd Couple,” Malick told People, comparing their dynamic to the classic comedy. “We were at odds for 40 years, and now, suddenly, we’re roommates. We have something to teach each other.”

Nancy, who was once a traditional housewife, is learning to embrace change, while Gus, who struggled with M.S. and hoarding, is starting fresh after burning down her own home.

“Sometimes you have to hit bottom before you realize you need help,” Malick said about her character’s journey.

Romance and New Challenges

Season 2 isn’t just about friendship—love is in the air for both Gus and Nancy. Thompson teased that her character is finally stepping out of her comfort zone.

“Nancy was so persistent, and Gus was at a point in her life where she really did need a friend,” Malick explained.

Meanwhile, Gus gets a love interest, and Malick had some fun teasing the details.

“He’s a good kisser,” she joked.

The season also introduces David James Elliott (known for JAG) in a recurring role as someone from Gus’s past.

What Else to Expect in Season 2

The new season picks up after the events of Ultimate Kitchen Clash, the reality show that brought the families together. Now, the restaurants are united under the name The Chicken Sisters, but a new threat emerges when Frank Jr. (James Kot) opens a competing restaurant, Mr. Chicken’s Cluckery, right on Main Street.

Fans can also look forward to:

  • Mae (Genevieve Angelson) and Jay (Samer Salem) planning their wedding.
  • Amanda (Schuyler Fisk) navigating family and business challenges.
  • More screen time for the hilarious duo of Gus and Nancy.
