A potential powerhouse pairing is in the works for a new Korean thriller series. Actor Kim Ji Hun is reviewing an offer to star opposite Kim Hye Soo in the upcoming Coupang Play original drama, “The Affair Is Not the Problem Right Now”. If both actors accept, it will mark their first on-screen partnership in this high-profile project.

The news follows reports that Kim Hye Soo was also in discussions for the lead role. The drama is generating significant buzz not only for its potential cast but also for its prestigious production team, which includes the studio founded by “Squid Game” director Hwang Dong Hyuk.

The Plot and Potential Roles

“The Affair Is Not the Problem Right Now” is described as a thriller that centers on a wife who, while in the process of tracking her husband’s infidelity, unexpectedly witnesses a shocking incident. This discovery presumably pulls her into a much deeper and more dangerous situation than a simple marital crisis.

Kim Hye Soo is being considered for the role of the wife at the heart of this mystery. Kim Ji Hun has been offered the part of her husband, whose alleged affair sets the story in motion. The dynamic between these two skilled actors would be a central point of interest for the series.

The Masterminds Behind the Camera

The drama is being developed under First Man Studio, a production company established in 2022 by acclaimed director Hwang Dong Hyuk. Adding to the anticipation, the series will be directed by Lee Chang Hee, who has built a strong reputation in the thriller genre. Lee Chang Hee is known for creating tense and gripping atmospheres in well-received shows like “Hell Is Other People” and the recent “A Killer Paradox.” His involvement suggests a high-quality, suspenseful viewing experience.

Current Status of the Project

As of late September, the drama is still in the casting phase. Kim Hye Soo’s involvement was first reported on September 18, with a representative from Coupang Play confirming that her appearance was “under discussion.” A week later, on September 24, reports emerged about Kim Ji Hun’s offer. His agency, BIGPICTUREENT, stated that the actor is “currently reviewing the offer” to appear in the drama. This means that while negotiations are advancing positively, final confirmations from both actors are still pending.

Kim Hye Soo remains one of the busiest actors in the industry. She recently starred in the Disney+ series “Unmasked,” which was released in January 2025. She is also filming the tvN drama “Second Signal,” scheduled to air next year.

Kim Ji Hun, recognized for his roles in dramas like “Flower of Evil,” recently opened up about a challenging three-year hiatus from acting. He shared that he faced financial struggles and health issues during that period, making this potential high-profile comeback project particularly significant for his career.
