The first season of the Outlander prequel is nearly complete. Outlander: Blood of My Blood will air its Season 1 finale, titled “Something Borrowed,” on Friday, October 10, 2025. The episode will be available on the Starz cable channel at 8 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and will arrive for streaming on the Starz app the following day. This final episode concludes the initial ten-episode journey exploring the love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents.

Fans will need to wait an extra week for the conclusion, as the show is taking a break after the September 26th episode. This schedule change is a common programming strategy for Starz. The finale is set to deliver intense drama for both central couples as their stories build toward their destined conclusions.

Finale Release and Streaming Details

The release schedule for the finale has a specific pattern. The episode will first be available through the Starz app. It will then air on the linear Starz television channel on Friday, October 10, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

For viewers who stream their content, the episode can be accessed via the Starz app or through streaming platforms that offer Starz as an add-on channel, such as Amazon Prime Video.

What Happened in Episode 9, “Braemar”?

The penultimate episode, written by Diana Gabaldon, set a tense stage for the finale. In a heartbreaking move to protect him, Ellen MacKenzie told Brian Fraser that she did not love him and ended their relationship. She did this after her brother, Colum, threatened to have Brian killed if she did not cut ties with the sworn enemy of their clan.

Meanwhile, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp managed to reconnect at Castle Leathers. Henry learned that Julia’s marriage to Simon Fraser was a scam and that she still loved him. They promised to meet again and escape to their own time. However, Julia must first find a way to flee the castle with her child, William, while being pursued by Balloch.

What to Expect in the Season 1 Finale

The finale, “Something Borrowed,” will focus on the consequences of these strained relationships. Despite Ellen’s rejection, Brian is not ready to give up on their love. A preview for the episode shows Brian, with help from his cousin Murtagh, declaring his undying love for Ellen and bravely drawing his sword. Ellen, believing she is protecting Brian, prepares for a wedding to another man.

For Julia and Henry, the goal is a dangerous escape. While fans of the original Outlander series know that Julia and Henry do not successfully return to their own time, it remains to be seen if the prequel will allow them a final reunion or if they will remain tragically separated. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts shared the mood he aimed for, stating the goal was for both fans and characters to be left wondering, โ€œOh my god, whatโ€™s going to happen next?โ€

Actor Harriet Slater, who plays Ellen, clarified the status of her character’s relationship, noting, “theyโ€™re not married, married, theyโ€™re handfast which is like an engagement. They have a year and a day from that moment to get married so still in the eyes of the world, sheโ€™s an unmarried woman.”

Hermione Corfield, who plays Julia, hinted at a more positive turn for her character, teasing that by the end of the series, โ€œJulia is in a hopeful place and things are looking like they could be going in the right direction.โ€
