A new television series that tells the real-life stories of people who lived through the Hamas attacks on Israel in 2023 is coming to streaming. Red Alert, a four-part scripted series, will premiere globally on Paramount+ on October 7, 2025, marking the second anniversary of the event. The series is based on firsthand accounts of survivors and aims to show the human stories of bravery and survival during the attack.
What is the Red Alert series about?
Red Alert is a four-part miniseries that focuses on the experiences of ordinary civilians during the attacks on October 7, 2023. The series is based on survivor testimonies and is described as a dramatic retelling of one of the most tragic events in modern history. The show follows several characters whose lives cross paths during the chaos.
The main characters include Bat Sheva, a mother who is forced to run with her two daughters while her son is taken to Gaza; Ohad, a father who protects his family; and Ayoub, a man who loses his wife and must hide with his baby. The story also follows Nofar, a Border Police officer who gets hurt while defending people, and Kobi, an anti-terrorism officer who races into danger to save his wife. Another character, Tali, becomes an unexpected hero while searching for her injured son, Itamar.
โThis critical series cinematically captures the horrific terrorism that stunned the world on October 7 with harrowing precision and inspires with these true-life stories of heroism and heartbreak,โ said David Ellison, chairman and CEO of Paramount.
Who is behind the series?
The series was created, written, and directed by Lior Chefetz. The production team includes Keshet Media Group, known for shows like Homeland, and Oscar-nominated producer Lawrence Bender, who worked on Pulp Fiction. Other production partners are Green Productions and the Israel Entertainment Fund.
Lawrence Bender shared that he felt a personal need to work on this project. He said he felt alone the day after the attacks and felt he had to do something. Red Alert was the result.
โWhat better way to tell the world what really happened? The world needs to be reminded of the truth. This is going to exist, and this will be here for the world to see,” Bender explained.
Filming took place in Israel, often close to where the real events happened. The crew could sometimes hear bombs in Gaza while they were working, and security for the actors was a constant concern.
When and where can you watch it?
All four episodes of Red Alert will be available to stream at once. The global release date on Paramount+ is October 7, 2025. In Israel, the series will also air on the channel Keshet 12.
The decision to release the series has been talked about in the news. Earlier this year, Paramount spoke out against a petition by some people in the film industry to boycott Israeli film companies. The studio stated that it does not agree with silencing artists based on their nationality.
โSilencing individual creative artists based on their nationality does not promote better understanding or advance the cause of peace,โ said Melissa Zukerman, chief communications officer for Paramount. She added that the industry needs โmore engagement and communication โ not less.โ
A story of survival
Red Alert is one of the first major scripted series to focus on the October 7 attacks. By focusing on the personal stories of survivors, the series aims to show what it was like to live through that day. The show presents stories of trauma and resilience during a time of extreme violence. For global audiences, it serves as a dramatic record of a historical event, ensuring that the experiences of those who lived through it are remembered.
