After a break from television, popular actor Hyun Bin is returning with a powerful new role. He stars as a cunning and ambitious central intelligence agent in the upcoming Disney+ series “Made in Korea,” set to premiere this December. The show has already generated significant excitement, with a recently released teaser showcasing Hyun Bin’s dramatic transformation into a cold-hearted mastermind.

A Glimpse into a Dangerous Ambition

The production recently released a character poster and teaser video, offering a first look at Hyun Bin’s character, Baek Ki Tae. The poster immediately captures attention, showing the actor wearing an earpiece with a shirt that forms the silhouette of the Korean Peninsula. The bold statement, “I am a businessman,” hints at a character who views national affairs as a commercial enterprise.

The tension escalates in the character teaser. It opens with a black-and-white shot of Hyun Bin’s profile as he delivers a chilling narration.

“This is a fight where someone has to die. And it won’t be me.”

The fast-paced teaser, driven by urgent music, highlights Hyun Bin’s cold stares and composed gestures. These elements perfectly capture the ruthless and determined nature of Baek Ki Tae. His ambition is further revealed in another line from the teaser.

“I will bring down those with more power than me and, in the end, change the world. This world has always been a battleground for the powerful. Someone’s death becomes my opportunity in this war.”

The Story of Power and Confrontation

“Made in Korea” is a period political drama set in the turbulent 1970s in South Korea. The story centers on two opposing figures. Hyun Bin plays Baek Ki Tae, a department head at the Korean Central Intelligence Agency. He is a man driven by an endless desire for wealth and influence, operating boldly between his government role and dangerous business ventures.

Standing in his way is prosecutor Jang Geon Young, played by the renowned actor Jung Woo Sung. Jang Geon Young is a man with animalistic instincts and terrifying tenacity, who sacrifices everything to stop Baek Ki Tae’s rise. The series will depict their monumental confrontation during a chaotic era.

The show is directed by Woo Min-ho, one of Korea’s most celebrated film directors known for works like “Inside Men” and “The Man Standing Next.” This project marks his first venture into television. The production is reported to have a massive budget, highlighting its scale and high expectations.

A Stellar Cast and Early Renewal

The series features an impressive ensemble cast beyond its two leading men. It includes Woo Do-hwan as Baek Ki Hyeon, Hyun Bin’s character’s younger brother and an elite military officer. The cast also stars Won Ji-an, Seo Eun-soo, and Cho Yeo Jeong in key roles, adding depth to the complex narrative.

Even before its premiere, “Made in Korea” has demonstrated strong confidence from its producers. The show has already been officially renewed for a second season. Production for the next season is underway and is targeted for release in the second half of 2026.

Release Schedule and Global Availability

Fans won’t have to wait long to see the showdown between Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung. “Made in Korea” will be available to watch globally on Disney+. The release will follow a special schedule. The series will premiere with two episodes on December 24, 2025. Another two episodes will be released on December 31. The remaining episodes will then be released weekly.

This role is a notable shift for Hyun Bin, who is widely loved for his romantic leads in shows like “Crash Landing on You.” His return as a power-hungry villain is one of the most anticipated television events of the year.
