BTS has officially become the first pop group in the world to surpass $500 million in cumulative tour ticket sales. The record-breaking achievement comes from the group’s ongoing ‘ARIRANG’ world tour, which began on April 9, 2026, in Goyang, South Korea.

Billboard confirmed the milestone through its latest Boxscore figures, released on September 30, 2026. The ‘ARIRANG’ tour is now the seventh tour by any group to cross the half-billion-dollar mark. All six previous groups to achieve this were rock bands, making BTS the first pop act to reach this level.

BTS ARIRANG Tour Joins Elite List of $500 Million Groups

The ‘ARIRANG’ world tour has joined a very short list of tours that have crossed $500 million in ticket sales. Fewer than 20 tours in Billboard Boxscore history have ever reached this figure. BTS is only the seventh group to do so.

What makes this achievement stand out is the genre gap. The other six groups on the list are all rock bands. Billboard noted that this puts BTS in “unprecedented territory as a pop group.”

The seven members — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook — have now secured a spot in music history that no other pop group has ever claimed.

August 2026 Concerts Drive the Record

A major push behind the $500 million milestone came from BTS’s August 2026 performances. The group staged 12 concerts across six North American stadiums that month. These shows drew about 800,000 fans and generated $171.7 million in ticket sales.

That monthly total is the second-highest in Billboard Boxscore history. The only month with a higher figure was Beyoncé’s $179.3 million in August 2023.

BTS returned to No. 1 on Billboard’s monthly Top Tours chart for the fifth time. The group now sits behind Bad Bunny (10 No. 1 finishes) and is tied in placement history with Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Elton John, who each have seven.

Every single one of the 12 August concerts was sold out. All six stadium stops appeared on the Top Boxscores chart, with five making the top 10. The biggest stop was MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on August 1-2. Those two shows alone grossed $32.7 million and drew 158,000 attendees.

Other stops included AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Soldier Field in Chicago, and Rogers Centre in Toronto. Each earned between $24 million and $30 million.

ARIRANG Album Marks BTS’s Return After Military Service

The ‘ARIRANG’ tour supports BTS’s fifth studio album, also titled ‘ARIRANG’. The album was released on March 20, 2026. It marked the group’s first full comeback after all seven members completed their mandatory military service in South Korea.

The 14-track album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart on April 4, 2026. It held the top spot for three weeks and has stayed on the chart for 27 consecutive weeks. The lead single, “SWIM,” won Song of the Year at a major year-end awards show in September 2026.

“‘ARIRANG’ is an album that represents a new beginning for us, which makes this award all the more meaningful.”

Fan reactions poured in across social media as the $500 million news spread. One fan wrote on X that BTS turned ‘ARIRANG’ into “a global moment,” calling them “legends in real time.” Another said, “Kings never left the throne.”
