The latest episodes of Dear X have sent the psychological thriller into overdrive, with Baek Ah-jin making her most dangerous move yet. In a shocking turn of events, the actress agrees to marry the mysterious and powerful Moon Do-hyuk, a decision that catapults her into a gilded cage of luxury and lurking threats, leaving her former allies shattered in her wake.
A New Alliance Forged in Fire
Following the tragic suicide of idol Heo In-gang, Ah-jin’s career appeared to be in freefall. Her contract with Longstar Entertainment was terminated by CEO Seo Mi-ri, who publicly blamed Ah-jin for the star’s death and vowed to destroy her. However, a powerful new player entered the scene to turn the tables.
Moon Do-hyuk, the major shareholder of Do Entertainment, orchestrated a stunning reversal of fortune. He systematically dismantled Mi-ri’s reputation, leading to her arrest for embezzlement and bribery, while simultaneously clearing Ah-jin’s name online. He then presented the actress with an exclusive and generous management contract. His assistance, however, came with a chilling condition. During a meeting, Do-hyuk confessed his obsession with Ah-jin and presented her with an ultimatum.
He asked her to become his wife in exchange for continued success, calling it his wedding gift.
In a move that stunned viewers, Ah-jin accepted his proposal and his ring, cementing a partnership built on ambition and dark secrets.
A Calculated Attack and a Narrow Escape
As Ah-jin secured her future, danger closed in on the people closest to her. Kim Jae-oh, who had been investigating the mysterious men following Ah-jin, discovered they were “ghost cars” with fake license plates. Unbeknownst to him, his office had been bugged by Do-hyuk’s men.
Jae-oh arranged a meeting with Yoon Jun-seo to share his findings. As they talked, one of Do-hyuk’s subordinates planted a bomb in the office building. Jae-oh smelled the leaking gas just in time, and the two men leaped from a first-floor window moments before a massive explosion engulfed the office. The attack confirmed that Do-hyuk was willing to eliminate anyone he saw as an obstacle to his possession of Ah-jin.
Personal Turmoil and a Final Goodbye
While Ah-jin moved forward with her new life, Jun-seo faced a series of personal devastations. He had agreed to donate a kidney to his mother on the condition she never trouble Ah-jin or his grandfather again. Shortly after the successful surgery, his grandfather’s health declined, and he passed away.
At the funeral, Jun-seo’s mother, intoxicated and angry about being left out of the inheritance, caused a public scene. In her rage, she revealed a life-altering secret: Jun-seo was not his grandfather’s biological grandson. This revelation shook Jun-seo to his core. He later confronted Ah-jin, demanding to know if she had known the truth all along. She coolly admitted she had, stating she kept it from him for his own good. She dismissed his pain, pointing out that his privileged upbringing was what allowed him to become a successful writer. This cold confrontation signaled a definitive end to their lifelong bond.
Jun-seo’s romantic life also reached its conclusion. He met Im Re-na at the airport as she prepared to leave the country. She told him to release Ah-jin from his life and focus on himself. Jun-seo confessed he was going to stop writing, and the two shared a final, bittersweet goodbye.
A Gilded Cage and a Hidden Past
Ah-jin’s new life with Do-hyuk was one of extreme luxury, beginning with a lavish wedding in Italy that made national news. However, the opulent mansion she now called home was filled with disturbing secrets. A study on the third floor was strictly off-limits to her, piquing her curiosity. When she asked to use the room to practice her script, Do-hyuk refused and instead insisted on rehearsing with her.
During their practice, he spoke about his ex-wife, claiming she was unstable and constantly said he had ruined her life. He revealed they divorced and he had her committed to a mental hospital. The story served as a stark warning to Ah-jin about what could happen if she crossed him. Further adding to the unease, Ah-jin discovered that someone had entered her private bathroom to leave sanitary products for her, indicating she was under constant, intrusive surveillance. Despite this, Ah-jin played her part perfectly, smiling through the discomfort and secretly asking Jae-oh to dig into Do-hyuk’s past, particularly his ex-wife.

After being caught trying to pawn Ah-jin’s luxury bags, she infiltrated the mansion disguised as a maid. Finding Ah-jin resting, Sung-hee approached from behind with a knife, blaming her for ruining her life.
A physical struggle ensued. Ah-jin fought back, shoving Sung-hee and slashing her face with the knife in the process.
