The first full trailer for Memory of a Killer is here, showing Patrick Dempsey as a hitman trying to balance his dangerous job while hiding a personal secret. The new Fox series follows a man who lives two separate lives and now faces a new enemy he cannot fight with a gun.

The show will premiere in a special two-night event starting Sunday, January 25, 2026, on Fox.

Patrick Dempsey Returns to Broadcast TV in a New Role

Patrick Dempsey stars as the main character, Angelo Flannery, also known as Angelo Doyle. In the show, he is a professional hitman who also works as a photocopier salesman in a quiet upstate town. For years, he has kept his violent work life completely separate from his personal life as a father. This role marks Dempsey’s first series regular part on a broadcast television network since his time on Grey’s Anatomy.

The core conflict of the series is Angelo’s personal battle. He has developed early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. This diagnosis is devastating for anyone, but for a hitman, forgetting details can be deadly. The show explores how he tries to continue his work while his memory fails him. Angelo understands what lies ahead because his older brother has already been lost to the same condition.

The Full Cast and Their Dangerous Connections

The series features a strong supporting cast. Michael Imperioli plays Dutch, Angelo’s oldest friend and employer. Dutch runs a restaurant in the Bronx that serves as a front for his criminal operations. He gives Angelo his targets, and while they share a close bond, Dutch does not know everything about Angelo’s life.

Richard Harmon plays Joe, a younger hitman working for Dutch and Angelo. His job involves tasks like gathering information and planning getaways. This position puts him close enough to notice Angelo’s mental decline, placing him in a difficult situation.

Angelo’s family life is central to the story. Odeya Rush plays his daughter, Maria, who is married and pregnant. She is very close to her father and cares for him as his health changes. The official description suggests she might have an adventurous side like her father. Her husband, Jeff, is played by Daniel David Stewart. He is an inventor who lacks respect for his father-in-law and is unaware of Angelo’s real profession.

Peter Gadiot stars as Dave, a friendly local police detective in Angelo’s town who investigated the accident that killed Angelo’s wife years ago. Dave has become a good friend to Angelo and is also secretly in love with Maria, adding another layer of tension.

A major threat comes from Gina Torres as FBI Agent Linda Grant. She is a tenacious investigator who begins looking into one of Angelo’s kills. Her investigation puts her on a direct path to uncovering Angelo’s secrets.

What Is Memory Of A Killer About?

Memory of a Killer is inspired by the 2003 award-winning Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer (also known as The Memory of a Killer). The American series adapts the core story of a hitman with Alzheimer’s but expands it for television.

The story follows Angelo, who has successfully managed his double life for years. His job is dangerous, but he is exceptionally skilled. His new Alzheimer’s diagnosis, however, is an enemy he cannot defeat. The situation becomes more critical when he starts to suspect that his wife’s death five years ago might not have been an accident.

The central plot is triggered when someone targets his pregnant daughter, Maria. This attack proves that the wall he built between his two lives has been broken. To protect his family, Angelo must search through his long history of past jobs to find out who is coming after them, all while his memory is fading. He must continue to carry out his assignments without revealing his condition and still make it home for family dinners.

Michael Thorn, President of Fox Entertainment, described the series as “a dramatic thriller with a noisy unrelenting hook” and said Dempsey’s character has the makings of a signature Fox lead.
