Peter Peter has released two original songs from the music for the popular HBO Max series Heated Rivalry. The tracks, titled “Rivalry” and “It’s You,” are now available on all major music streaming platforms. They are the first singles from the show’s upcoming official soundtrack, scheduled for a full release later this month on Milan Records, a Sony Music label.

The release follows massive fan demand for the series’ music. Since the show’s debut in late November 2025, viewers have been searching for ways to listen to the score. The full soundtrack album will compile composer Peter Peter’s original score from the show’s first season.

Details on the New ‘Heated Rivalry’ Songs

The two newly released songs serve different emotional purposes within the series. “Rivalry” is a high-energy techno track designed to match the intensity of professional hockey games featured in the show. It first plays during the opening of the series’ premiere episode.

The second song, “It’s You,” is an original song that captures the romantic and tender storyline between the two main characters. This track is featured prominently in the second episode of the series.

Peter Peter stated, “I’m proud that I was able to find my place. It’s really easy for music to take something away from a scene. I managed to blend into the background”.

The composer created the music in his home studio located in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec. He was brought onto the project after series creator Jacob Tierney heard Peter’s 2024 solo album, ร‰ther, and personally invited him to compose the score. For Peter, this project marks his first major work composing music for television.

Fan Demand Led to Soundtrack Release

Originally, there were no concrete plans to release an official soundtrack. The decision moved forward after the show quickly became a popular topic online and fans flooded social media with requests for the music.

Just days after the first episodes were released, the show’s production company contacted Peter Peter about the possibility of a soundtrack. The composer confirmed the discussions on social media, telling fans, “Production got in touch with me the very day of the launch, regarding the possibility of an Original Soundtrack release”.

Throughout December 2025 and January 2026, Peter worked to mix approximately 35 different musical cues from the series into a cohesive album for release. The positive reaction from fans was a driving force behind the project.

The Full ‘Heated Rivalry’ Musical Experience

The upcoming soundtrack will feature only Peter Peter’s original instrumental score and songs. However, the series is also famous for its curated selection of popular music from the late 2000s and 2010s, which has driven significant streaming spikes for the featured artists.

Series creator Jacob Tierney has explained that the soundtrack is built from his personal playlists from early adulthood, calling it “the music of my early twenties”. Key songs used in the show include Wolf Parade’s “I’ll Believe in Anything,” Feist’s “My Moon, My Man,” and t.a.t.u.’s “All the Things She Said,” which have all seen a major resurgence in streams since the show aired.

Jacob Tierney said about using music, “I’ve never made TV the normal wayโ€ฆ Music is so important to me. ‘I’ll Believe in Anything’ was so built into the show โ€” I wanted to clear it before we even started filming”.

The combination of a nostalgic soundtrack and an original score has been a major part of the show’s appeal. Heated Rivalry is an adaptation of Rachel Reid’s bestselling novel and follows the secret romantic relationship between two professional hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. The series stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie and is produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment for Crave in Canada and HBO Max internationally.

The full Heated Rivalry (Original Series Soundtrack) is set for release by Milan Records before the end of January 2026. Milan Records is a Sony Music imprint known for releasing soundtracks for major films and series like Succession and The Last of Us. “Rivalry” and “It’s You” are available now for streaming and download.
