The return date for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set for February 27, 2026, with new episodes launching weekly on Apple TV+. The second season will continue the epic story of the secretive monster-tracking organization, bringing back fan-favorite characters and introducing new faces and Titans into Legendary’s expanding MonsterVerse.
Following the events of the first season, the fate of Monarch and the world hangs in the balance. The new story will reveal buried secrets, reuniting heroes and villains on Kong’s Skull Island. A new, mysterious village will serve as the setting where a mythical Titan rises from the sea, creating ripple effects that blur the lines between family, friend, and foe. The season will consist of 10 episodes, concluding on May 1, 2026.
Season 2 Cast: Returning Favorites and New Faces
The core cast from the first season will return for the new chapter. Anna Sawai reprises her role as Cate Randa, the schoolteacher and G-Day survivor searching for answers about her family. She is joined again by Kiersey Clemons as the resourceful May and Ren Watabe as Cate’s half-brother, Kentaro Randa.
The unique father-son duo of Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell will return as the older and younger versions of Army officer Lee Shaw. Other returning cast members include Mari Yamamoto as the scientist Keiko, Anders Holm as the younger Bill Randa, and Joe Tippett as the eager Monarch office worker Tim. Takehiro Hira will also return as Hiroshi Randa, the missing father of Cate and Kentaro.
Season two introduces several new actors to the MonsterVerse. Amber Midthunder, known for her role in Prey, joins the cast as Isabel, an intelligent and powerful businesswoman. Additional new guest stars for the season include Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, and Camilo Jimรฉnez Varรณn, though their specific roles have not been detailed.
Introducing Titan X: The New Monster Threat
A major highlight of the upcoming season is the debut of a brand new Titan. Titan X will be unleashed as a central figure in the season’s mystery. Described as more than just another monster, Titan X is presented as a “living cataclysm”.
“Titan X isnโt just another monster; itโs a living cataclysm. When its massive bioluminescent form breaks the surface of the ocean, the world seems to hold its breath,” according to an official description from Apple TV+.
This ancient force emerges from the deep with an uncertain purpose and unmatched power, destined to bring both awe and terror in equal measure. The new Titan will share the screen with returning legendary creatures. The season will also feature more of the iconic King Kong, alongside the return of Godzilla.
The Story Continues: From Hollow Earth to Skull Island
The second season picks up after the dramatic first season finale. That conclusion saw Cate, May, and Keiko return to Earth from the alternate dimension known as Axis Mundi, only to discover that years had passed in their absence. Their ally, Lee Shaw, sacrificed himself to help them escape during a battle between Godzilla and another Titan.
The new season logline promises a story that delves deeper into the hidden history of Monarch. The adventure will move significantly to Skull Island, the home of King Kong. The official plot states that buried secrets will reunite characters on the island and in a new village where another Titan emerges. The consequences of past actions will create new conflicts, challenging loyalties as a major “Titan event” looms on the horizon.
