“This is heartbreaking….”

When it comes to veteran actors, one of the most-loved and famous names in the Korean entertainment industry is actor Won Bin, despite his last acting project being fourteen years ago with the movie The Man From Nowhere. 

Throughout his career, netizens loved watching the handsome actor, but it seems that even in 2024, Won Bin’s only comebacks have been through advertisement. While Won Bin hasn’t appeared in any acting projects, the actor has appeared in several commercials throughout the years and continued to showcase his visuals.

In 2023,  Won Bin returned for another advertisement for the skincare brand Incellderm. On the brand’s YouTube channel, they posted several new trailers with the actor that resembled an action movie.

Considering how long it’s been, it’s not surprising that a post on theqoo gained a lot of attention as the title read, “Issue: Won Bin Confirmed to Return to the Screen After 14 Years.” When the post was shared, it quickly gained attention and had over 75,000 views as netizens got excited to see the huge news about Won Bin’s return.

Sadly, they were disappointed when it was revealed that the comeback was actually coming in the form of a 2024 remake of his hit movie from 2004 called Taegukgi and it was going to be remastered in 4K.

The movie is set in 1950, and it follows a shoe-shiner Jin Tae Lee (Jang Dong Gun) and his 18-year-old brother, Jin Seok Lee (Won Bin) from a poor but happy family. When North Korea invades the South, the family escapes to a relative’s house in the country, but Jin Seok is forced to join the army and JinTae enlists as well to protect his young brother.

When the news was shared, the over 800 comments were full of disappointed netizens who really thought that Won Bin was coming back.
