Episode 6 Title and Official Synopsis Revealed

Paramount+ has released the official press details for “Children of the Scorned.”

The episode title plays on the classic horror film title Children of the Corn, keeping in line with the show’s clever, pun-heavy naming style for Season 3. Previous episodes this season include “Mean Ghouls” and “The Halls Have Eyes”.

The official synopsis for Episode 6 reads:

“The mystery of Maddie’s original disappearance takes a new turn as she adjusts to life back in her body.”

This confirms that viewers have not heard the full story regarding how Maddie ended up in the spirit world to begin with. While Season 2 revealed that Janet (Jess Gabor) stole Maddie’s body, the synopsis suggests there are still missing pieces to that puzzle. Something new is coming to light, and it is directly connected to the night Maddie vanished.

Where Things Stand Before Episode 6

To understand why this new turn is such a big deal, it helps to look at where the characters are right now.

Maddie Nears (Peyton List) is back in her own body, but she is not resting. She is dealing with terrifying visions and the weight of protecting both the living and the dead. Her best friend, Simon Elroy (Kristian Ventura), is currently the one trapped in the afterlife after helping Maddie escape. He is stuck inside Mr. Martin’s scar and is becoming obsessed with uncovering the school’s buried secrets.

Meanwhile, Wally Clark (Milo Manheim) faced a major decision at the end of Season 2. Viewers saw him say goodbye to Maddie, but the show has not yet confirmed whether he chose to cross over or stay in the limbo of Split River High. Fans are expecting Episode 6 to address his fate.

Mr. Martin (Josh Zuckerman) remains the central figure of suspicion. His true intentions regarding the spirits he claims to help have been questioned since Season 1, and his secrets are expected to unravel further as Simon digs deeper into the scars.

What to Expect in Children of the Scorned

With the official synopsis pointing directly at Maddie’s original disappearance, Episode 6 is set up to be a turning point for the season.

For two seasons, the central question was who killed Maddie, only for the show to reveal she was never actually murdered. Janet, a spirit from the 1950s, used Maddie’s body as a vessel to escape the school. Now that Maddie is back and Janet is on the run in the living world, the case is far from closed.

The phrase “takes a new turn” suggests that either Maddie remembers something new, or evidence from the living world changes how everyone views that night. Sheriff Baxter (Ian Tracey) and Xavier (Spencer MacPherson) are both aware of the supernatural elements at play. It is possible that Xavier, who gained the ability to see spirits after his near-death experience, plays a key role in uncovering this new information.

Meanwhile, Simon remains trapped. His situation is becoming more dangerous the longer he stays in the scars. Episode 6 may also show Maddie attempting to find a way to pull him back, similar to how he helped her.
