Christina Elmore, known for her lead role in the 2024 series The Girls on the Bus, has signed on to star opposite Damon Wayans Jr. in the new NBC drama pilot Puzzled. The project is based on the popular Puzzle Master novels by Danielle Trussoni .

Elmore will play the character Angela in the pilot. She is described as the head of the Atlanta P.D.’s Major Crimes Section. Her character is balancing the high-stakes pressure of running major criminal investigations while raising three kids . The role places her as a key figure in the law enforcement team that works with Wayans Jr.’s character.
Joey Falco (Charmed) wrote the pilot and serves as an executive producer. Jordan Cerf (Linden Entertainment) is also executive producing, with the original author Danielle Trussoni on board as a producer. Jesse Peretz is attached to direct the pilot and will also executive produce .
What Is NBC’s Puzzled About?
The show centers on Mike Brink, played by Damon Wayans Jr. Brink is a former college athlete whose life changes after he barely escapes a tragic fire. He suffers a traumatic brain injury that results in Acquired Savant Syndrome . This rare condition gives him extraordinary abilities in puzzle-solving, pattern recognition, and higher math functions.
He currently makes a living by betting on sports, using his unique skills. The series will follow him as he teams up with local police to help solve complex crimes that confuse everyone else .
Production Details and Filming Schedule
The production is moving forward quickly. Filming for the Puzzled pilot is scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Georgia. According to local industry reports, shooting is set to begin on March 15, 2026 and will wrap up on March 24, 2026. The crew will work at Assembly Studios in Doraville .
This is a traditional broadcast network pilot. NBC will review the finished product and decide whether to order it to series by May. If picked up, it could premiere during the 2026-27 television season.
