In a recent episode of the ‘Channel Fifteen Nights’ YouTube channel, actress Han So-hee, known for her roles in popular dramas like ‘The World of the Married’ and ‘Gyeongseong Creature,’ opened up about her journey from high school graduation to her unexpected debut in the entertainment industry.
Han So-hee, who made her debut at the age of 25, shared her fond memories of the five years between the ages of 20 and 25 during the candid conversation. Speaking with Park Seo-joon, producer Na Young-seok, and writer Lee Woo-jung, she reminisced about working part-time, enjoying nights out, and exploring Seoul. The revelation about her initial aspirations to study in France added a surprising twist to her story.
The actress disclosed that she had been accepted to a French school but faced a hurdle – a requirement of 60 million won in her bank account to obtain a visa. Addressing the financial challenge, Han So-hee explained, “There were many illegal immigrant workers, and to ensure I could cover tuition, the school demanded a bank account balance confirmation. At that time, I had no idea where to find 60 million won.”
To overcome this obstacle, Han So-hee delved into part-time work. She contrasted her earnings, saying, “Working 12 hours a day at a bar earned me 1.8 million won monthly, but a 2-hour modeling shoot paid 3 million won.” Her modeling career took an unexpected turn when an advertisement for snacks brought in a whopping 20 million won. Notably, without a company at the time, Han So-hee got to keep the entire amount.
Reflecting on her entry into the entertainment industry, she disclosed, “I initially planned to film three episodes to raise the 60 million won needed for France. However, after the snack ad, the CEO approached me and suggested I try acting.” Despite initial reservations, Han So-hee’s path shifted towards acting, ultimately leading her to the successful career she enjoys today.
Writer Lee Woo-jung humorously commented on the missed opportunity to study abroad, to which Han So-hee responded with a smile, “I would have gone back then, but circumstances changed.” The conversation concluded with a light-hearted exchange, where producer Na Young-seok teased her about the allure of different amounts of money, a nod to her earlier part-time work experiences.
Han So-hee, who debuted in the 2017 SBS TV drama ‘Into the New World,’ has since become a rising star in the Korean entertainment industry, solidifying her status with roles in hit dramas and continuing to captivate audiences with her talent and charm.
