What to Expect in Episode 7
As Hell University moves past its midpoint, the tension continues to build. The first six episodes have established the dangerous rules of the school, introduced the rival gangs, and put Zein and her friends in increasingly perilous situations.
The Bloody Night Threat
Every night from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, the campus transforms into a hunting ground where violence is not just allowed but encouraged. The main characters have survived multiple Bloody Nights so far, but each one brings new challenges and unexpected betrayals.
The gangsโthe Black Blood Gang led by Nazzer (Keagan de Jesus) and the Devil God Warriors led by Raze (Lance Carr)โcontrol different territories within the school. Zein and her friend group find themselves caught in the middle of this gang war while trying to find a way out of the university.
Character Dynamics Heating Up
The relationship between Zein (Heart Ryan) and Ace Craige (Zeke Polina), the Supremo or student council president, has become a central focus of the story. Ace is described as quiet but dangerous, someone whose cold warnings should never be ignored. Despite his intimidating presence, there are hints of romance developing between him and Zein, adding emotional depth to the survival thriller.
Heart Ryan, who takes on her first lead role as Zein, has described her character as someone brave and sometimes reckless, but always willing to protect her friends. The actress previously appeared in Ang Mutya ng Section E and the sitcom Da Pers Family.
Zeke Polina, who plays Ace, shared that embodying the nonchalant Supremo character was challenging, especially when it came to showing hidden emotions and romance. Prior to Hell University, Polina had a small role in the first season of Ang Mutya ng Section E.
The Friend Group Under Pressure
The core group of friends includes Matt (Andre Yllana), who secretly has feelings for Zein; Dave (Derick Ong), Matt’s loyal best friend; Vanessa (Jastine Lim), the strategic thinker; Mia (Gabbi Ejercito), the quiet but strong member; and Jerome (Jac Abellana), the group’s jokester who provides moments of levity.
Director Bobby Bonifacio Jr. has emphasized that each character was carefully crafted to feel different while still working together as a group. As the danger escalates, these friendships are being tested in extreme ways.
The Story So Far
Hell University is based on the Wattpad novel by KnightInBlack (Raymond Velasco), which has gained over 182 million reads online and was later published as a paperback by Psicom Publishing. The story was written over six months in 2016 and draws inspiration from The Purge film franchise, exploring what would happen if such violence were allowed within a school setting.
The premise follows a group of friends who unknowingly enroll in a hidden school that operates outside government control. At first, the free tuition and food seem like a lucky break, but they soon discover the terrifying truth: every night brings the Bloody Night, when any crime is permitted.
The show was filmed in a renovated abandoned building, which was redesigned with an Art Deco aesthetic to create the unsettling atmosphere of the fictional university. Production designer Ericson Navarro led the transformation, building the entire set from scratch to match the story’s dark vision.
Interestingly, director Bobby Bonifacio Jr. revealed that some cast members experienced unexplained phenomena during filming, with several feeling presences on set.
The Cast of Hell University
The series features a mix of experienced actors and fresh faces, many of whom have backgrounds in P-pop idol groups.
Heart Ryan (Zein Shion) previously debuted as a member of P-pop Generation in 2019 and later joined LITZ in 2022 before the group disbanded. Her acting career began with a music video appearance for Arthur Nery’s “Pagsamo” in 2021.
Zeke Polina (Ace Craige) is in his early 20s and makes a significant leap from his small role in Ang Mutya ng Section E to leading this series.
The supporting cast includes Andre Yllana, Jastine Lim, and Derick Ong, who reunite with their Ang Mutya ng Section E co-stars. Jastine Lim was actually Heart Ryan’s former bandmate in P-pop Generation.
Lance Carr and Aubrey Caraan, known collectively as the love team “LanceBrey,” play Raze and Samantha respectively. Raze leads the Devil God Warrior gang and is considered the smartest person in the school, while Samantha is a mysterious former student.
Jemima Rivera of the girl group RAYA plays Nicky Colt, described as one of the deadliest characters in the story and among the smartest students. In promotional clips, Nicky is shown putting Zein in a chokehold, establishing her as a serious threat.
Keagan de Jesus, who played Eman Andrada in Ang Mutya ng Section E, portrays Nazzer Lumia, the leader of the Black Blood Gang.
Members of the Filipino boy band ALAMAT also appear in the series. Jao Canlas plays Supreme Student Government vice president Onel Ty, while Alas Alvarez portrays Luke, a dangerous member of the Black Blood Gang. ALAMAT also contributed to the show’s soundtrack.
Veteran actress Andrea Del Rosario, 48, takes on the crucial role of the villainous Madam Violet. Del Rosario was formerly part of the Viva Hot Babes in the 2000s.

What Makes Hell University Different
Unlike many Viva One shows that lean toward romance dramas, Hell University ventures into horror territory. The series combines mystery, action, and teenage drama with supernatural elements and survival thriller tension.
The show explores what happens when ordinary people are pushed to their limits. Director Bonifacio Jr. noted that the story isn’t just about violence, but about characters facing extreme circumstances and being forced to make impossible choices.
For lead actors Heart Ryan and Zeke Polina, the pressure of carrying their first major roles has been significant, but both welcome the challenge. Polina shared that the pressure pushes them to do better, while Ryan prefers to focus on doing her best rather than setting expectations.
With only three episodes remaining after Episode 7, the story is building toward what promises to be an intense conclusion. The secrets of the university, the true nature of the Bloody Night, and the characters’ fates will all be revealed as the series heads toward its April 3 finale.
Hell University Episode 7 arrives this Friday, March 20, exclusively on Viva One.
