In a recent appearance on The Dan Patrick Show on December 6, 2024, Adam Sandler revealed exciting details about the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2, including the surprising involvement of rapper Eminem. The sequel to Sandler’s 1996 classic golf comedy is currently complete, and Sandler confirmed that the legendary musician will have a special cameo in the film.
Happy Gilmore 2 Filming Wraps
Sandler, 58, spoke about the progress of Happy Gilmore 2 during his chat with host Dan Patrick, 67. While discussing cameos in the film, Patrick excitedly mentioned Eminem’s involvement. Sandler responded affirmatively, stating that the rapper, 52, had filmed his scenes for the movie and was a joy to work with.
“Eminem was cool, he came by, he was great,” Sandler shared. “He just shot and shot and was insane. He said a million things we can use and a million that we’re glad we have him on tape.”
Although Sandler remained tight-lipped about the specific details of Eminem’s role in the sequel, he described the collaboration as a positive experience. “I’ve known Eminem for a long time, he’s a great guy,” Sandler added. “He just came in, and was funny as hell.”
Star-Studded Cast
In addition to Eminem, Happy Gilmore 2 will feature several other notable figures, including sports stars and media personalities. Patrick, NFL player Travis Kelce, and actor Benny Safdie, who Sandler teased would play a significant role, are all set to make appearances. Happy Gilmore 2 will also see the return of Christopher McDonald as the infamous villain Shooter McGavin.
Another highlight is the rumored cameo of retired golf legend Jack Nicklaus, 84, a prospect Sandler hinted at during the interview.
Release Plans and Expectations
While no specific release date has been revealed, Sandler mentioned that he hopes to premiere the comedy on Netflix around July 2025. The actor also acknowledged the pressure of creating a sequel nearly 30 years after the original film. Despite the challenges, Sandler expressed confidence that the film would meet expectations.
“We’ve got a lot of good stuff, and we just want to make sure that it all comes together,” Sandler said. “We’re definitely nervous, but we feel some sort of confidence.”
Fans of the original film are eagerly awaiting the sequel, which promises a blend of familiar humor and new surprises, including the highly anticipated cameo by Eminem.
