Alexander Skarsgård has spent the last few weeks promoting his new fantasy romance “Wicker,” and his red carpet choices have become a talking point of their own. The Swedish actor, 50, has worn see-through shoes, a multicolored skirt, and a shirt printed with co-star Olivia Colman’s face. The looks have drawn praise, confusion, and a fair amount of social media chatter ahead of the film’s release.
The Clear Shoes That Started the Conversation
The press tour opened at the BFI London Film Festival on October 8, 2026. Skarsgård walked the red carpet in a metallic gold Saint Laurent suit paired with transparent lace-up shoes from the brand’s spring 2027 men’s runway. The shoes showed his bare feet inside the plastic material.
“They were surprisingly comfortable, and I was worried that they would steam up in five minutes, but that actually didn’t happen,” Skarsgård told Variety at the Academy Museum Gala. “But I’ve been getting a lot of comments from friends and family about my little piglets sticking out. They make fun of me. They make fun of my feet”.
“It was a joke between us to say, ‘I don’t understand why men are scared to show their feet,’” Saint Laurent’s design director of shoes Corrado De Biase told Women’s Wear Daily. “Because there’s a lot of beautiful men that have beautiful feet and like to show it”.
Social media reactions were split. Some users called the look bold and fun. Others were less kind. “New ick unlocked,” wrote one commenter, while another added, “Oh my God, those shoes must stink between plastic and sweat”.
A Shirt With Olivia Colman’s Face
At the Los Angeles premiere on October 20, 2026, Skarsgård wore a custom Chopova Lowena black long-sleeve shirt with a framed image of Olivia Colman from the film. The shirt was embellished with black gemstones around the portrait. He paired it with a purple and green plaid skirt from the same London-based label.
“We’ve been on a press tour for a couple of weeks, and now we’re in L.A., and it’s our final big premiere before the movie opens on Friday,” Skarsgård said. “I wanted to wear something special for this lovely lady over here, Olivia, whom I adore”.
The skirt drew its own attention. W Magazine noted the actor paired the personalized top with the label’s cult-favorite carabiner skirt and hiked-up socks. Skarsgård kept his review of the outfit simple: “It’s very comfortable. It’s quite a hot night, and it’s light and breezy. I’m enjoying it”.
Co-star Elizabeth Debicki offered her support. “He can do no wrong,” she said. “I love the man. What can I say? I’m biased”.
The Gray Wig Inspired by Olivia Colman
Hours before the Los Angeles premiere, Skarsgård arrived at a SAG-AFTRA screening and Q&A in a different look entirely: a long gray wig styled into bouncy curls, paired with short shorts and a black zip-up jacket. The wig was a direct nod to his co-star.
“I got a little jealous because everyone is complimenting Olivia on her beautiful hair and beautiful hair color,” Skarsgård said. “I got no love for my hair. As a narcissistic actor, I need a little bit of attention, so I threw on a beautiful gray wig to match Olivia today”.

“Wicker” is a romantic fantasy comedy based on the short story “The Wicker Husband” by Ursula Wills-Jones. The film is written and directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson. Release Dates for ‘Wicker’
“Wicker” opens in limited U.S. theaters on Friday, October 23, 2026, before expanding on Friday, October 30, 2026. The UK release is set for October 30, the same day as India. Australia will release the film on November 5, 2026.
