Singer Arijit Singh, known for some of the biggest hits in Bollywood, has surprised everyone by saying he will watch Bigg Boss 20 for the very first time. The reason is his old friend and former Fame Gurukul co-contestant Qazi Touqeer, who is currently a contestant on the reality show.
Arijit took to his private X handle and shared a post that quickly went viral. He wrote, “I will have to watch BIG BOSS for the first time in my life cz Apna Rockstar QAZI hai udhar”. The post caught attention not just because of the unusual Arijit-Bigg Boss connection, but because it showed a friendship that has lasted for more than two decades.
A Friendship That Started on Fame Gurukul in 2005
Arijit Singh and Qazi Touqeer first met as teenagers on the singing reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005. They were both contestants on the show. Qazi went on to win Fame Gurukul alongside Ruprekha Banerjee, while Arijit secured the sixth position.
Even though their careers took very different paths, the two remained close friends over the years. Qazi, who hails from Srinagar, continued working in music and acting. He is also known for singing the hit track Afghan Jalebi from the 2015 film Phantom.
Arijit’s Support for His ‘Rockstar’ Friend
Arijit’s post on X was simple but full of support for his friend. He called Qazi his “Rockstar” and made it clear that Qazi’s presence on the show finally gave him a reason to watch Bigg Boss.

Qazi Touqeer’s Visit to Arijit’s Hometown
Earlier this year, Qazi visited Arijit’s hometown Jiaganj in West Bengal. He shared a reel video documenting the visit. The video showed their journey from their Fame Gurukul days in Mumbai to Qazi’s visit to Jiaganj in 2026.
In the video, the two singers are seen riding a scooty through the town, meeting locals and spending time together. Qazi said in the reel:
“That was Fame Gurukul in 2005, in Mumbai me, Arijit, and Shahid Kapoor. We were teenagers then, and now it’s 2026, and we’re still teenagers at heart. We just refused to grow up.”
What Qazi Said About Arijit
During his visit, Qazi had nothing but praise for his friend Arijit. He spoke about Arijit’s character and dedication to his work.
“What can I say about Arijit? There’s no corruption in him, no insecurity, no jealousy towards anyone. He is pure passion. He’s real. And yes, he’s a genius, we all know that.”
Qazi also recalled playing cricket with Arijit during his visit to Jiaganj. He said Arijit continued bowling even after getting hit by the ball.
“Despite getting hurt, he continued bowling for another three or four overs. We’re old school like that, never-say-die attitude. He never got tired. Then later in the evening, from 8:30 PM till 1 AM, he was busy with music practice and editing work. He completely immersed himself in it.”
Qazi Touqeer’s Bigg Boss 20 Journey
Bigg Boss 20 premiered on September 6, 2026, with host Salman Khan introducing 16 contestants into the house. Qazi Touqeer is among the confirmed contestants.
Within just a few days, Qazi has become one of the most talked-about contestants. Clips of his antics from the show have been going viral on social media. His catchphrase, “I’m a Rockstar baby, aau!”, has turned into an internet sensation.
In one episode, Qazi pretended to witness something supernatural in the middle of the night, leaving his fellow housemates frightened and confused. He later revealed it was an act meant to entertain the audience.
In another viral moment, Qazi claimed he is a trained commando and can do 20 push-ups in five minutes. He also told fellow contestants that he built a “coffee tanki” at his home in Kashmir just because he loves coffee.
Bigg Boss 20 airs daily at 9:30 PM on Colors TV and streams on JioHotstar at 9 PM. The season comes with the theme ‘Tathastu,’ where contestants get two chances to survive in the house.
